Abstract: A window-screen combination wherein the screen is concealed when not in use but is readily accessible for servicing or replacement. The window-screen assembly includes a window frame circumscribing a window opening and including a peripheral outer frame portion providing an elongated header recess facing into the opening. The frame also includes a plurality of elongated inner frame members separable from the outer frame portion and disposed along the periphery of the opening. A first of the frame members, a header member, is positioned over the recess so that a passageway remains between the recess and the opening. The other of the frame members, jamb members, extend downwardly from the header member and form opposed vertical guideways adjacent to the window opening and aligned with the passageway.

Abstract: A latching device (5) including a housing (7) with a latching member (15) connected through track followers (16,17) to a track (10,11,12,13,14) in the housing (7). A lever (6) pivotally connected to the housing (7) has a track follower (20) engaged in a track (21) in the latching member (15). A lug (18) on the latching member (15) is disposed adjacent an opening in the housing (7) dimensioned to receive a latch lug (4). Pivotal movement of lever (6) causes movement of follower (2) in the track (21) with resultant planar movement of the latching member (15) as the track followers (16,17) traverse the track (10,11,12,13,14) the shape of which also produces movement of the lug (18) between extended and retracted positions relative to said housing opening.
Abstract: An improved casement window securement mechanism includes two cams, one handle, cam linkage and a cam and linkage supporting spacer. The spacer supported cam is a reaching cam including a cam ramp with a straight drawing portion, and cam center and over-center portions. The reaching cam draws a catch at a rate varying with the cam angle of rotation. The securement mechanism draws and positively secures a bowed or warped casement sash.
Abstract: This specification discloses a sash lock wherein a catch is mounted on one window sash and a base supporting a latch is mounted on another window sash. The latch has a handle portion and a hook portion. In a locked position, both of the portions of the latch engage the catch, the hook portion from the top and the handle portion through an opening in the catch. The sash lock includes springs to bias the latch into a noninterfering position.
