  • Patent number: 11299116
Abstract: A variable back beam and a method of allowing an inflator to vary the variable back beam in case of collision. The variable back beam includes a main beam connected to a front end module carrier, an inner beam inserted into each of both sides of the main beam, and an operation member operable to move the inner beam in a vehicle-width direction at the time of left front or right front collision of the vehicle. Since the back beam is extended in length at the time of collision, the impact area or shock absorption area of the back beam can be increased, the impact on the back beam, a crush box, and a collision object can be reduced, and particularly, it is possible to reduce the crush length of the left or right end of the back beam.

  • Patent number: 9908560
Abstract: A collision countermeasure apparatus for a vehicle includes a longitudinally extending frame rail that defines a transverse opening adjacent a front end. An extension is partially received in a bumper that defines an open end. A pin is received in the transverse opening and has an outer end pivotally connected by a joint to an outboard end of the extension. Collisions outboard of the frame rail drive the extension into the pin and the pin into the rail to laterally displace the vehicle. Collisions inboard of the rail slide the extension outwardly from the bumper and pivot the extension and pin toward each other. Collisions inboard of the rail shift the pin laterally outwardly from the transverse opening.

  • Patent number: 9108119
Abstract: The invention entails a modular sectional race track with recreational style racing vehicles, such as four wheel all terrain recreational vehicles. The sectional race course usually has moving obstacles, various obstructions plus the general design of the course track induces the racing vehicles to spin out, tilt over on their side or framework roof and/or rollover completely. The race vehicles have specifically designed roll over frameworks that, with the driver's safety harness fastened, assist the racing vehicles to roll back over on to its drive tires. The racing vehicle may be additionally assisted to roll back over by a driver initiated mechanical righting device. The race tracks' sections can be configured to be sized and shaped for specific race venues. The track sections can be quickly attached, detached and transported as needed.

  • Patent number: 8991544
Abstract: A front bumper assembly including a bumper beam and two deflectors are provided on right and left sides of the front bumper assembly. The deflectors include hook-shaped portions and telescopic portions. The telescopic portions are received within the front bumper assembly. The hook-shaped portion of the deflector may be engaged by a rigid barrier aligned with the deflectors. In the event of a collision, the rigid barrier engages one of the hook-shaped portions and withdraws the telescopic portion from the front bumper assembly. The deflector is pulsed outwardly to move the front wheel and tire assembly to a tow-in orientation.

Abstract: A vehicle frame is provided having a frame. The frame includes a main rail and a lateral rail. A bracket is operably coupled to the main rail. The vehicle frame assembly also includes a wedged shape deflecting member. The wedged shape deflecting member has a first end which is operably coupled to the bracket and a second end which is operable between a standard use position and a collision event position. The standard use position is where the second end is spaced a predetermined distance from the main rail. The collision event position is when the second end is in abutting contact with the main rail. During a collision event, the second end moves from the standard use position to the collision event position such that the deflecting member absorbs and deflects energy imparted on the frame.

  • Patent number: 8544589
Abstract: A deflector is attached to a frame on a vehicle in front of a front wheel which cooperates with the front wheel to glance a vehicle past a laterally offset impacting object. The deflector acts as a first boundary against the impacting object and the deflector turns the front wheel inboard to an inwardly turned position to act as a second deflecting boundary against the impacting object. The deflector and inwardly turned front wheel cooperate to deflect the vehicle past the object, such that the object passes outboard of a rocker member on the vehicle.
