  • Patent number: 7824126
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods for safely capturing a moving vehicle are disclosed. The method includes biasing a portion of a loop of cable against the rear portion of one or more tires of a target vehicle, such that the cable is carried over the tire and engages the rear axle, or another portion, of the target vehicle. The loop of cable can be connected to a stationary or mobile structure that can then provide a force to the cable to safely slow down and stop the target vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7377563
Abstract: A vehicle step includes an appearance surface; a pair of step surfaces; a lock for securing the step within a bumper; and a pivoting mechanism for rotating the step. The appearance face forms an external bumper surface when the step is stowed. The pivoting mechanism alternately deploys and stows the step manually or using a motor. A vehicle access method includes configuring a bumper with an affixable portion and connecting thereto a rotatable portion having an appearance surface and two step surfaces. The rotatable portion has a step surface formed on opposite surfaces of a first member, and an appearance surface formed on a surface of an intersecting second member. One step surface and the appearance surface are exposed when the rotatable portion rotates to one position, and the other step surface is exposed when the rotatable portion rotates to another position.

  • Patent number: 6702347
Abstract: An integrated mounting system for mounting the bumper, recovery rings and a selectively removable winch to the frame of a motor vehicle. Left and right mounting plates are attached to the front ends of the left and right frame rails, wherein each mounting plate has a plate aperture. Left and right mounting brackets each have a bracket aperture formed in a planar base and a clevis perpendicularly upstanding in relation to the base. The front bumper also has a pair of bumper apertures. With the apertures aligned, the left and right mounting brackets are attached, respectively, to the left and right mounting plates, the bumper being sandwiched therebetween. Recovery rings are attached pivotally by a connector to each clevis. Removing a recovery ring allows a winch stinger to be received into the bracket, bumper and plate apertures at the selected mounting bracket, and be secured thereto via the connector at the clevis.

  • Patent number: 6527318
Abstract: The Hailo-cover is a truck bed cover system including a pair of side panels and an end panel all having a fastening strip spanning the upper width for removable attachment to the inner rim of a truck flatbed. In addition, the side panels and end panel all have a plurality of fastening straps extending downwardly and with distal fastening means thereon for overlapping attachment to the opposing fastening strap of the other panels. This configuration allows the opposing side panels and tailgate panel to be opened and hung exteriorly of the truck bed to protect the exterior surfaces and prevent scratches. dents and dings. Alternatively, the panels can be draped over a payload and joined via the fastening straps to cover and protect the payload in the truck bed, or they can be secured in a rolled configuration and stowed.
