Overlapping Bar Portions Patents (Class 293/153)
  • Patent number: 10850694
Abstract: A vehicle rear bumper includes a rear bumper face. The rear bumper face includes right and left side face blocks and a middle face block. An outer edge part in the vehicle width direction of the middle face block is fastened and fixed attachably and detachably to the right and left side face blocks. The middle face block has a lower flange that extends in a vehicle body frontward direction from a lower end of a block main body part. Each of right and left edge parts of the lower flange is fastened and fixed to a lower surface of the side face block. In the lower flange, an extension length to the vehicle body frontward direction and a maximum thickness in a vertical direction are gradually increased from a middle region in the vehicle width direction toward a fastening fixation part.

  • Patent number: 6494510
Abstract: An impact absorbing mechanism for absorbing an impact load input between receiving portions at a predetermined distance from each other is provided; in the impact absorbing mechanism, a dispersing transferring portion for dispersing and transferring the input impact load in two directions is formed by connecting respective one end sides of two load transferring members, impact absorbing members for absorbing dispersed impact loads in directions along the transferring members and supported by receiving stopping portions are disposed on the other end sides of the respective load transferring members, a connecting portion of the load transferring members is positioned to be closer to load input sides than to the other end sides of the respective load transferring members, and the input impact load is dispersed and absorbed in two directions; thereby, it is possible to obtain an impact absorbing mechanism by which impact energy absorbing performance in a displacement initial stage is enhanced to carry out efficie

  • Patent number: 5000499
Abstract: A deflectable vehicle bumper has a central frame member attachable to a front of a vehicle, and a pair of laterally extending wing members for protruding beyond the side of the vehicle, each wing member being substantially coplanar with the central frame member and attached thereto. Each wing member comprises a rigid plate having an inner end portion overlapping and detachably secured to the central frame member, and each plate has a vertical line of weakness constituting a fracture line outside the inner end portion, the fracture line ensuring that the plate fractures when a predetermined rearward force is applied thereto. A strip of resilient material is sandwiched between the overlapping plate and central frame member, the strip of resilient material being attached to the plate on each side of the fracture line.
