Abstract: An apparatus for removing dog waste is disclosed which includes a bottom panel (235) for scooping up a piece of dog waste from a ground, a left side panel (122L) and a right side panel (122R) both attached to a back panel (223), each of the left side panel (122L), the right side panel (122R) and the back panel (223) also attached to the bottom panel (235) to form a concave space with only one front opening, and a front panel (102) pivotally connected to a top edge of the back panel (223), wherein when the front panel (102) pivots to a first position the front panel (102) reaches the bottom panel (235) and completely covers the front opening, and when the front panel (102) pivots to a second position there is a gap between the front panel (102) and the bottom panel (235) for accommodating the piece of dog waste.

Abstract: A cat litter scoop is provided, which includes a handle component, and a user replaceable scoop attachment. When a scoop attachment is inserted into the handle component, a scoop body contacts with a grip area within the body of the handle component. Further insertion force deflects the grip allowing the body of the scoop attachment to pass over grip teeth. The force of the deflection in concert with the geometry of the grip teeth help to retain the scoop attachment within the handle portion When a button is depressed, a protrusion beneath the button is translated into contact with the grip via a contact surface. As the button is further depressed, it deflects the grip in the same direction as the travel of the button. This move's the grip's teeth away from the scoop allowing the scoop to release from the handle component.

A bagging control located on the handle is used to signal a control module within the portable pet waste container to initiate a bagging cycle, which involves using the scoop to pull the pet waste into the bag and pumping air out of the bag, causing it to collapse. With the collapsed bag covering the pet waste, the bagged pet waste may be removed through a bottom door of the bag compartment.

The reclosable top is positionable between a closed position and an open position. The first gusset and the second gusset have closure features biasing the first top panel and the second top panel to the closed position.

Abstract: An apparatus for the collection of animal feces utilizing two oppositely disposed arms which are used to sweep and collect feces and allow a user to more easily collect feces into a standard sized collection bag without touching the feces or feeling the texture of the feces through a bag. The apparatus further has either a sweeper or a dust pan at a distal location of the arms to perform the function of collecting the feces when the apparatus arms are squeezed together. During non use, the animal defecation collection apparatus has a collapsible sweeper blade and collapsible dust pan blade that fold and allow the apparatus to be more compact when stored. Further, there is a locking mechanism to allow the arms to be retained together to be more compact during storage.

Abstract: Reusable hand scrapers for waste removal include a pair of scrapers configured to manipulate waste into a bag when the bag is positioned over the waste. Each of the scrapers has a strap being configured to be wrapped around a user's hand for leverage when in use. A hazard detection unit and an alert device are further provided, enabling the user to be alerted if a hazardous material is detected.

Abstract: Biodegradable bags for disposing of a unwanted substance are formed from a bioplastic material made from a bio based material in the form of a maize flour, and a biodegradable plasticizer selected from the group consisting of vegetable oil, polyesters made from glycerin, glycerin, derivatives of glycerin, and combinations thereof. The maize flour comprises a minor volume percent of the total volume of the bioplastic material. A biodegradable additive is used to provide a degree of stiffness to the material, a preferred additive being polylactic acid. A UV stabilizer may optionally be included. Biodegradable bags have an open end and a closed end with a sidewall extending therebetween. The bag includes a feature for enclosing a substance once placed into the bag. In an example, the feature comprises an opening through a sidewall. Alternatively, the feature may include an adhesive section.

Abstract: A waste receptacle for storing pet waste is provided. The waste receptacle includes a substantially planar base, peripheral sidewalls extending from the base, and an upper opening defining an interior volume configured to store animal waste therein. The peripheral sidewalls each include an upper portion connected to a lower portion. The upper portion includes ridges thereon so that a user can grip the upper portion and so that the user will not feel the pet waste when picking it up using the waste receptacle. In some embodiments, the lower portion of the waste receptacle is rigid so as to further avoid the sensation of contact between the user's hand and the pet waste stored in the waste receptacle.

Abstract: A litter scooper that enables the user to efficiently clean scoopable cat litter from a litter box by removing feces and large clumps of litter soiled with urine as well as the many smaller clumps. Current litter scoopers have a receptacle with only one size of aperture slots to sift the litter that allows the smaller clumps to pass through thus continuing to cause odor in the litter box. The litter scooper of this invention teaches two sizes of aperture slots. The preferred embodiment is a receptacle with rear handle, normal sized aperture slots and a section of the reduced size aperture slots to one side. The invention enables the user to sift out larger clumps of litter saturated with urine and feces by using the section with larger aperture slots and removing the smaller clumps by using the section of reduced size aperture slots. Another preferred embodiment discloses a receptacle with two angular floor sections with the handle on the side between them.

Abstract: A pet scoop assembly and method of use. The assembly includes a scoop member; a receptacle detachably engageable with the scoop member; and a door disposed intermediate the two. A disposable bag may line the receptacle and be clamped in place between the receptacle and scoop member. The door opens inwardly into the receptacle. When the scoop assembly is turned into a vertical orientation, the door opens by gravity or by the weight of gathered pet waste sliding onto the door. A region of the scoop member adjacent the door is angled to allow pet waste to slide readily from the scoop member into the receptacle. In a variation, the scoop member is provided with a plurality of tines that enable pet waste to be removed from surfaces such as grass. An elongate handle is provided on this scoop to allow the user to stand upright during use.

Abstract: A collection device for pet waste material and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, a pair of opposing shells extends from a base at which there is pivotally attachment of the opposing shells. The pair of opposing shells are pivotally movable between a closed shell state with the respective shell ends proximate each other and an open shell state wherein the shell ends are spaced from each other. A bag when folded upon itself may have its pouch inserted into the collection device and held therein between the pair of opposing shells. A pair of pockets are respectively coupled to each of the outer surfaces of the shells and configured to accept fingers for grasping and manipulating the collection device between the closed shell state and the open shell state.

Abstract: A containment system to safely store a waste scoop includes: an outer receptacle including a bottom surface, at least one side wall, an opening and a first coupling element; an inner receptacle including a bottom surface and at least one side wall housed within the outer receptacle and including an opening, wherein the inner receptacle is removable from the outer receptacle via the opening of the outer receptacle; a scoop assembly including a scoop, a handle, and a lid, wherein the scoop is housed within the inner receptacle and is removable from the inner receptacle via the opening of the inner receptacle; a compartment including a second coupling element for connecting the compartment to the outer receptacle via the first and second coupling elements; and a third and fourth coupling element to secure a planar surface of the lid to cover the opening of the outer receptacle.
