  • Patent number: 4405170
Abstract: A demountable carrier rack for a pickup truck, the rack including a primary structural framework for securing to the front sides of the truck bed. A removeable secondary framework is provided for securing to the tail end of the truck bed with the two frameworks being interconnected by a pair of longitudinally extending running bars and a transversly extending adjustable load bar. The primary frame work and the inside of the truck bed are provided with collecting devices for storing the secondary framework, the running bars and the adjustable load bar.

  • Patent number: 4342480
Abstract: An improved, easy installation mechanized enclosure system for flatbed trailers and the like has anti-jamming roller bearing inclined ends on a succession of canopy-supporting arcuate members or roof-bows with rollers running in over-and-under tracks; the incline both increases the effective distance between rollers on each end of the arcuate members and loosens installation tolerances and immunizes against damage caused by misalignment of the tracks for the rollers by making it practically impossible for changes in spacing between the tracks to alter smooth operation of the rollers; other advantages of the system, some optional, include provisions for full-bed access for loading and unloading, both power and manual operation, integral lower-roller axles, roof bow tautening arm-braces, snapon/snap off installation of tarpaulin on roof bows, and spring-biased roller latches.

  • Patent number: 4289346
Abstract: A collapsible and extendable protective cover mechanism for storage areas includes a pair of elongated guide tracks positioned in parallel relation on either side of the area to be protected. A plurality of cover segments, each having side portions interconnected by a top portion are positioned with the lower extremities of the side portions in guided engagement with the elongated track means. A power actuator system is interconnected with at least one of the cover segments and, when energized, causes simultaneous movement of the side portions of at least one of the segments, causing the protective cover mechanism to move toward a collapsed position where a majority of the area is exposed or an extended position where substantially all of the area is covered and protected. A single drive motor of the power actuator mechanism functions through a chain drive to cause simultaneous rotation of threaded members that are secured at either side of the area to be protected.

  • Patent number: 4285539
Abstract: This invention deals with a retractable tonneau top which is suitable for use on the open-bed of a truck, trailer or wagon. This tonneau top comprises a piece of covering material which is carried by a stationary bow structure, a movable bow structure and a plurality of intermediate bow structures which are located between the stationary and movable bow structures. The movable and intermediate bow structures laterally move along a pair of tracks which are attached to the opposing side walls of the open-bed. Movement of the top is controlled by means of a crank. Rotational movement of this crank is simultaneously imparted to a drive chain associated with each track. Each of these drive chains is in turn coupled with the movable bow structure such that the movable bow structure is capable of moving in combination therewith.

  • Patent number: 4189178
Abstract: A tarpaulin cover system for use in trucks eliminates the need for usual side tracks for guiding the tarpaulin supporting rods. The rods are instead guided by flexible means such as cables which are simultaneously used for driving the front edge of the tarpaulin when unfolding or folding same. The invention substantially enhances the operative reliability of the device, reduces costs thereof and simplifies its installation.

  • Patent number: 3942830
Abstract: An accordion type of cover for the load-carrying body of a dump truck having a flexible cover fixed relative to a plurality of support frames, movable by an appropriate drive means from a stacked condition forwardly of the load-carrying body to a spread apart condition over said load-carrying body; the flexible cover, therefore, being selectively disposed in a folded condition forwardly of said body or in a covering relation thereto.
