A contoured lever is movably disposed between the hood and the vehicle, and a slot having first and second ends is formed within the lever. A lock detent formed within the contoured lever is in communication with the second end of the slot, and a pin mounted to a portion of the vehicle is slidably received within the slot. When the hood is opened, the pin is received within the lock detent, thereby locking the hood in the open position.
