Patent number: 7234766Abstract: In a vehicle roof structure, a roof panel has a central opening in which a roof glass is supported. A roof molding is mounted to molding mounting grooves that are formed along connecting portions between the roof panel and roof side rails extending along the roof panel. The roof molding includes a molding body and support legs. The molding body also includes: a lip portion that is formed at one side edge thereof and protrudes out of the molding mounting groove to cover a peripheral edge of the roof glass; and an inclined portion which is formed at the other side edge thereof and is inclined smoothly toward a bottom of the molding mounting groove.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2005Date of Patent: June 26, 2007Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tadayuki Uchida, Harutaka Maruyama, Nobuyuki Toyoda, Etsuko Karube

Patent number: 7048327Abstract: A cover panel for closing a roof opening has a panel body, a support frame for the panel body, and a seal member having a substantially rigid mounting portion mounted on an edge of the support frame and extending around an outer circumferential edge of the panel body, and a resilient hollow seal portion for engaging the outer circumferential edge of the panel body. An arrangement is provided by which water passing between the seal portion and the circumferential edge can pass be drained away. Furthermore, a glass support portion of the seal member is bifurcated, having a flexibly hinged upwardly angled flange portion that is deformed downward upon placement of the glass pane to insure correct Z-axis (vertical) positioning of the glass pane forming the panel body and to prevent adhesive from flowing between the panel body and the seal member.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2004Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Assignee: Webasto Products North AmericaInventors: Tom Mack, J. Patent number: 7045189Abstract: A molding for closing a recess between a pair of body panels includes a head portion, a stem portion, and at least one leg member. The head portion has a width sufficient to close the opening when the molding is installed in the recess. The stem portion can be formed of a harder plastic material than the leg member and has a width enabling the stem portion to pass through an opening in the recess. The leg member is formed of a softer material and extends from the stem portion for frictional engagement with the side wall of the recess. A living hinge can be formed in the leg member to facilitate deflection of the leg member during insertion.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2003Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: General Motors of Canada LimitedInventors: Paul Hui, William J.
