Top And Side Board Securing Devices Patents (Class 296/36)
  • Patent number: 4042275
Abstract: A cap for a hollow stake of a highway cargo vehicle having a tarpaulin roof supported above the cargo bed of the vehicle by a plurality of stakes. The cap encloses the top of the stake to protect its interior from the elements and includes a fastening means which extends downwardly and is couplable with the inner portions of the hollow stake. The cap is provided with a bow socket portion which cooperates with a stake bow socket portion provided in the interior of the post to form a bow receiving socket for receiving a bow extending through the protector cap into the hollow stake.

  • Patent number: 3989148
Abstract: Two panel assemblies are separately mounted on the side walls of a pickup truck by means of integral legs which fit into stake pockets provided by the truck. When these panel assemblies are so mounted, cross bars join the top portions of opposing panel assemblies to provide additional vertical stability to the panel assemblies and to serve as a top carrier. When removed from the side walls and longitudinally joined together in a single plane, these panel assemblies are hooked into the rear of the bed of the truck and extend from the rear of the truck to provide a loading ramp to the bed of the truck.

  • Patent number: 3940179
Abstract: A stake to support vertically positioned side panels on a flatbed trailer comprising a tubular member integral with a plate member, which, together with a T-shaped member, forms grooves to receive and support the side panels. The stake is reversibly received by pockets positioned at the periphery of the flatbed, and stakes are oppositely located along the sides of the flatbed such that their upper ends may receive the ends to tarpaulin bowed rods. The tubular member includes off center stop means to stop and support the ends of the tarpaulin bowed rods. Depending upon which end of the stake is seated in the pocket and the length of the end of the bowed rod used, the height of the transverse portion of the rod from the flatbed may be varied.

  • Patent number: 3930680
Abstract: A knockdown modular enclosure structure that is adapted to convert vehicles for use either as mobile security or detention carriers for transporting prisoners, animals or the like or as a means of transportation in which the passengers are protected from persons outside the vehicle. In one embodiment the passenger or load space on the bed of a truck is enclosed by a series of knockdown panels defining the walls and roof of the enclosure. The panels are separably and detachably interlocked without the use of fasteners and in such a manner that they cannot be removed from either inside or outside the enclosure when at least one of the panels, which provide a doorway for entering and leaving the enclosed space is closed. The driver's compartment is protectively enclosed by an additional array of panels fitting over the windshield and windows or window spaces of the compartment. In vehicles having a roofless driver's compartment, a panel construction is provided for enclosing the top of the compartment as well.
