Drip Pans Patents (Class 296/38)
  • Patent number: 5099872
Abstract: A funnel-like tapered containment vessel of flexible sheet material has its smaller end portion normally closed by a valve and its other end portion open to define a mouth. Such vessel has a large flat lip that can be positioned under the source of a leak of hazardous liquid such that the liquid falls on the lip and is conveyed into the vessel. The open end portion of the vessel has an inflatable cuff including a top arcuate part which, when inflated, holds the upper portion of the mouth of the vessel open. The cuff includes a separate bottom part extending around the margin of the lip and inflatable to form a raised rim to prevent runoff. The normally closed valved end portion of the vessel can be connected to a collapsible collection container such as by a hose having quick-connecting end fittings.

  • Patent number: 4798754
Abstract: A lightweight, disposable absorbent mat is adapted for placement beneath a motor vehicle or machine to catch oil, grease and other drippings and comprises a generally rectangular base layer which is made up of an oil-impervious material, and a plurality of upper, oil-absorbent plies are interconnected to one another and superimposed on the base layer, the plies being made up of a highly absorbent paper or cellulose material. The plies of paper material are interconnected at spaced intervals and may be covered with an upper plastic layer which is perforated to permit any drippings to pass through the upper layer into the absorbent plies, the upper layer having an outer peripheral edge or edges sealed to the outer peripheral edges of the bottom layer to form a moisture barrier around the sides of the absorbent plies; and stiffener frame members may be interposed between the outer peripheral edges of the upper and base layers.

  • Patent number: 4750775
Abstract: A disposable catch pan for catching and holding engine oil which leaks from the joint between the engine and the transmission housing is disclosed. In one embodiment the catch pan has an oil impervious shell and contains a medium providing a porous filling or a filling providing interstices. The filling serves to retard movement of the held oil. In another embodiment the catch pan is formed of absorbant material. This embodiment may also have an oil impervious shell.

  • Patent number: 4695088
Abstract: An oil collector includes a one-piece molded plastic unit defining a central recess and a quartet of substantially flat outwardly extending flexible arms. Each arm terminates in a rectangular magnet recess. A permanent magnet is disposed and retained within each magnet recess. An absorbent foam plastic cartridge is disposed within the central recess and serves to seal the central recess to a vehicle surface and acts to retain collected oil within the central recess.

  • Patent number: 4684562
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus designed to catch drippings including three sheets, one formed from an absorbent, isotropically permeable material supported by a second sheet formed from an absorbent material for absorbing drippings. These two sheets further are supported by a third sheet that is liquid-resistant, one side of which is covered by a foil material, this foil-backed sheet further preventing liquid leakage. The three sheets are bonded together by a sealing ring, tape, or adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4497147
Abstract: Drips-catching mats for installation in combination with a minor proportion of a floor especially a garage floor beneath a motor vehicle to capture oil drippings therefrom. The mat essentially comprises generally horizontally extending laminar elements including: a base member highly-tenaciously bonded to the underlying floor environment; an oleophilic blotter member having a lower-tenacity attached to the base member whereby an oleo-laden blotter can be manually replaced with a fresh blotter without disrupting the high-tenacity flooring bond to the base member, the lower-tenacity attachment preferably comprising an oleo-resistant laminar adhesive; and visual indicator means to indicate when blotter replacement is necessary.
