Abstract: An enhanced chair for usage in connection with honoring guests at various celebrations. More particularly, the invention is an improved “Simcha Chair,” or chair traditionally used at Jewish weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, and other affairs, wherein an honoree is seated in a chair and elevated by celebrants above the height of dancing guests. As such, there are inherent safety risks associated with the activity, and the improved chair of the present invention mitigates the incidence of potential damage and injury through the usage of a lifting rail, optional safety belts, and hand grips for the occupant and/or lifters.

  • Patent number: 6378937
Abstract: An apparatus for the assisted portage of automobile types of infant-seats separate from an automobile includes a coiled holder with an extensible strap that is attached to one side of the infant-seat and a screw-eye that is attached to the other side. The extensible strap includes a first end with a fastening device such as a spring clip that is attached to the screw-eye when the strap is extended out of the coiled holder and over the shoulder of a user. The extensible strap is set to any desired length and is locked at that position by the coiled holder or it is automatically retracted therein depending upon the position of a locking toggle on the coiled holder. Preferably, the coiled holder is attached to one side of a handle of the infant-seat at a pivot axis for the handle and the screw-eye is attached to the opposite side. The pivot axis is disposed proximate the center of gravity and therefore optimally supports the infant-seat.

  • Patent number: 6250713
Abstract: A vehicular seat for use in extracting a driver from a vehicle driver compartment of, for example, a racing vehicle. The seat includes a shell having a seat bottom and seat back. The seat further includes a securing strap for securing the driver to the seat. A plurality of receptacles are attached to the seat and are adapted to receive a lifting member, such as a plurality of straps. To extract the seat from the driver compartment the driver is secured to the seat by the securing strap. The lifting member is then secured to the seat. The lifting member is then raised to simultaneously extract the driver and seat from out of the driver compartment.
