Abstract: Present invention teaches a screwless chair where the unassembled product can come in a flat package, reducing the size of storage and adding to the ease of transportation. No screws are needed for the chair of present invention; no tools are needed for the assembly/disassembly when a user unfolds the seat back from the seat base, slides the hook pieces along the groove pieces and set the seat back down by setting the insertion pegs to the corresponding insertion holes. Errors in setting up the chair can be avoided. The ease of setting up, and thus the sturdiness and the safety of the chair, is not affected by repeated disassembly/re-assembly.

Abstract: In various embodiments, self-adjusting reclinable seating is disclosed. When the user applies a force to the seating by shifting his or her center of gravity, the backrest and seat portions of the seating move in response to the force to recline the seating. The user can return the seating to an upright position by again shifting his or her center of gravity. Such a configuration eliminates the need for manual recline controls. The seating is further configured to continuously vary the angle of the seat and backrest portions relative to the ground as the user moves. In particular, vertical distance between the front of the seat and the ground increases as the backrest reclines. Continuously varying the angle of both the seat and the backrest portions of the seating relative to the ground may improve a user's seating comfort, for example, by decreasing or eliminating the user's need to shift position on the seat when reclined.

  • Patent number: 8534758

Abstract: Subject matter described herein includes a seat assembly (e.g., chair, bench, sofa, vehicle seat, etc.) having a seat and a back rest that adjust together to facilitate reclining. The seat assembly includes a base coupled to a back-rest frame. The base remains substantially fixed relative to synchronized adjustment of the seat and the back rest, and the back-rest frame includes a pivot on which the back rest rotates to adjust a back-rest recline position. The assembly also includes the seat hingedly coupled to the back rest and a fore-and-aft adjuster that couples the seat to the base. A movement restrictor attaches to the seat and the base and biases the seat in a rearward orientation. The assembly further includes a pivot receiver coupled to the back rest, the pivot receiver providing a path along which the pivot travels when the seat moves forward and rearward.

Abstract: An office chair including a linking mechanism between a movable chair seat and a pivotable chair back. The mounting arrangement between the chair back and the chair seat includes swing arm assembly that is pivotally connected to the chair seat. When the chair seat moves forward, the swing arm assembly moves with the chair seat and causes the chair back to pivot and move relative to a stationary support arm. The stationary support arm includes a curved support face that moves within a movement slot formed on the swing arm assembly. The movement slot includes a roller that helps guide relative movement between the two components. The chair seat includes a thigh support portion that allows the user to adjust the seat depth as desired.

Abstract: An aircraft seat has a chassis (21), fixed to a pallet which is fixed to the floor of the aircraft. The chassis has two load bearing sides (23) and opposite ends (24, 25). Fixed along the top edge of the sides (23) and facing outwards are pins (26) supporting bearing wheels (27). These on each side engage with a rectangular S form interconnection beam (28) having an inside groove (29) for receiving these wheels. On the outside, the beam has another groove (30) receiving similar wheels (31), on pins (32) fixed to the inside of side plates (41) of a sub-frame (42), these side plates being interconnected by front and rear beams (43, 44). Thus the sub-frame can move back and forth, with the wheels acting as rolling element bearings. The beams move half the distance of the sub-frame, in analogous manner to the bearing of filing cabinet drawers.
