Abstract: A head restraint assembly is provided with a head restraint frame mounted to a post for movement along the post for adjustment relative to a vehicle seat. The head restraint frame has a contact surface. A biasing member is mounted to the head restraint frame for movement relative to the head restraint frame to maintain the head restraint frame in a locked condition along the post. An actuation member is mounted to the head restraint frame for movement relative to the head restraint frame. The actuation member cooperates with the biasing member such that movement of the actuation member moves the biasing member, thereby disengaging the biasing member from the post to permit movement of the head restraint along the post such that the biasing member engages the contact surface in the second position to provide feedback to the user of an unlocked condition of the head restraint frame.

  • Patent number: 8991927
Abstract: A headrest holder includes two tension pieces defined in the body portion thereof and a head portion. The two tension pieces, each including a protrudent portion, are spaced apart from each other along the longitudinal direction of that body portion, while being in a mutually facing relation, so that a headrest stay inserted in the headrest holder is retained between the two protrudent portions against wobbling. Further, those two tension pieces and either the head portion or a support bracket of seat frame establish three supportive points. Namely, the headrest holder inserted in the support bracket is retained against wobbling because the two protrudent portions and the headrest holder's neck portion closely contact the support bracket. Also, a headrest stay inserted in the headrest holder is retained against wobbling because the two protrudent portions and headrest holder's head portion closely contact the headrest stay.

  • Patent number: 8814272
Abstract: A headrest assembly securable to a motor-vehicle seat back part has a movable headrest and a rod fixed in the seat back and having a plurality of vertically spaced catch formations. A spring carried on the headrest has a pair of legs flanking the rod, elastically deflectable toward and away from the rod, and biased elastically toward the rod, and a crosspiece connecting the legs and fittable with one of the catch formations. An actuator shiftable in the slide relative to the spring has respective actuating formations engageable with the spring legs. The actuator is movable between a latching position in which the actuating formations are generally disengaged from the respective legs and the crosspiece engages the rod and an unlatching position in which the actuating formations engage the respective legs and press them into the released position.

  • Patent number: 8807653
Abstract: An adjustable vehicle head restraint assembly is provided with a post mounted in a vehicle proximate to a seat back. A transverse shaft is mounted to the post. A head restraint is pivotally connected to the shaft. A series of teeth are provided on the head restraint. A locking mechanism is mounted to the shaft for translation in a transverse direction for engagement with the teeth. An actuator cooperates with the locking mechanism for disengaging the mechanism from the series of teeth for permitting adjustment of a tilt of the head restraint. A head restraint assembly is provided with a partial ring gear mounted to the head restraint. A sector gear is mounted to a transverse shaft in engagement with the partial ring gear. The actuator translates one of the partial ring gear and the sector gear for disengaging the gears and permitting adjustment of the tilt.
