Abstract: Disclosed herein is a portable bed having particular application for use in an aircraft. The aircraft bed includes a folding frame and a folding mattress to lay on and be supported by the folding frame. The folding frame includes a plurality of upstanding panels that are hingedly coupled side-to-side one another so that the frame can be collapsed from an expanded unfolded configuration at which to support the mattress to a compact folded configuration at which to be suitable for storage. In one embodiment, the folding frame is located between a pair of aircraft seats that face one another, and the mattress extends between the seat portions of the facing seats. In another embodiment, the folding frame is located between an aircraft seat and an upstanding structure (e.g., a wall) of the aircraft, and the mattress extends between the reclined back portion of the aircraft seat and the upstanding structure by way of the folding frame.

Abstract: In an electronic device having a heat sink, the heat sink includes a flat-plate-shaped base and fins protruding from one surface of the base and extending substantially in the direction of gravity in a state where the electronic device is mounted on an apparatus. Each of the fins has a first inclined portion on a lower surface thereof in the direction of gravity, and the first inclined portion is inclined downward in the direction of gravity toward the base. The base has a second inclined portion on a lower surface thereof in the direction of gravity, and the second inclined portion is inclined with respect to the horizontal direction when the base is viewed from a side where the fins are provided.

Abstract: A vehicle furniture system for use proximate to a vehicle driver's seat, the system comprising: a first post having a first post first end, a first post body, and a first post second end mountable to the floor of the vehicle; a primary support having a primary support longitudinal axis generally perpendicular to a primary support lateral axis, a primary support top surface, a primary support bottom surface, a primary support first longitudinal side rotatably and slidably engageable to the first post, a primary support second longitudinal side, a primary support first lateral side, and a primary support second lateral side, the primary support disposable in a first position, a second position, a third position, and a fourth position; a primary support rod; and a second support adjacent to the primary support with the primary support in the second position and the third position.

Abstract: The present invention is a device which quickly and inexpensively transforms two, face to face aircraft passenger seats into a horizontal bed surface adapted to provide a user with a flat surface upon which a user may lie on their back, side or stomach. A collapsible foundation block is adapted to form a space filling function as to a space between two face to face seats that are secured to a floor structure forming a horizontal surface. The foundation block is preferably inflatable and is supported from a floor surface between the two face to face seats, whereafter a supporting structure of the foundation block rises to a top surface generally parallel to the floor. The elevation of the top surface is approximately a level of a top surface of seat cushions of the two facing seats.

Abstract: An apparatus for mounting and cooling a flat screen during operation comprises a housing for accommodating the flat screen and further heat generating electric and electronic units, moreover thermal bridges for conducting the heat generated by at least the flat screen to a heat conductive rear wall of the housing. The rear wall is provided with at least one profile in a manner that a plurality of chimney-like cavities are formed on the rear side of the housing, which comprise in their lower end portion at least one opening for supplying cool air into each cavity, and at least one outlet opening in the upper end portion of each cavity for discharging heated air into the atmosphere.

Abstract: A sleeper seating unit for an aircraft, and including a primary seat having a seat frame for being stationarily-mounted to the aircraft deck, a seat back for being selectively moved by a seat occupant among fully upright, semi-reclined and fully reclined positions, a scat bottom for moving between retracted and extended positions in coordination with the seat back, and an ottoman for being positioned on the deck forward of the primary seat. The ottoman has a top cushion positioned on a top surface thereof and a leg rest cushion positioned on a side of the ottoman facing the primary seat. The leg rest cushion is movable between positions wherein when the primary seat is in an upright position, the leg rest cushion is positioned at an angle to engage and support the bottom of the feet, and when the primary seat is in a reclined position, the leg rest cushion is in a generally horizontal position adjacent to and forming an extension of the seat bottom.

Abstract: A seating unit (1) comprises a fixed housing (10) containing a primary seat with a reclinable back arranged to recline in such a manner that it remains within the housing. The seating unit is suitable for a aircraft cabin and may further comprise a leg-rest arranged to cooperate with the seating portion to form part of a substantially flat surface when the back is reclined in a substantially horizontal position. The seating unit may further comprise a secondary seat (3) positioned to face the primary seat, the secondary seat having a seating portion positioned to cooperate with the leg-rest of the primary seat to form a portion of the substantially flat surface when the back of the primary seat is reclined in the substantially horizontal position. Privacy between seats and use of available space within an aircraft cabin may be optimised by arranging at least some of the seats in an echelon.

Abstract: A folding bench seat is provided, particularly for vehicles. It consists of a bench seat frame with a restraint system and comprises a base frame secured to the floor and a top structure. The top structure has an upright column unit, a back unit and a seat unit, and the column unit is supported via a horizontal pivot on the base frame and can be folded down from the upright position to a flat position.

Abstract: A modular RV furniture apparatus includes a platform, a U-shaped frame having enlargements formed at its leg extremities for insertion through selected socket openings of the platform. A key panel movable under the platform has key openings formed therein for locking the frame in place with the enlargements blocked by the key openings. The leg extremities of the frame are spaced at a distance D, pairs of the socket openings also being spaced at the distance D for permitting the frame to be selectively engaged with the platform and locked in place in a plurality of fixed positions. At least some socket openings are spaced at a center spacing S that is a submultiple of the distance D, a back-support on the frame having a width W being the distance D plus a multiple of the spacing S. A manual or powered locking device holds the key panel in the locked position, an electrical interlock deactivating a vehicle ignition circuit when the key panel is not in the locked position.

Abstract: A helicopter presenting a passenger compartment defined longitudinally by two transverse walls and laterally by two swing-up doors; the passenger compartment being equipped for administering first aid and the conveyance of casualties, and presenting a support, adjacent to one of the transverse walls, for a first stretcher;a main seat adjacent to the other transverse wall; a support, incorporated in the main seat, for a second stretcher; and two standby seats retractable inside the support of the first stretcher.

Abstract: A bed arrangement is provided for shipboard stateroom use. Fixedly positioned, spaced-apart, small single beds, having a leg space therebetween for daytime use as facing sofas, optionally can be converted to a large common bed, of a size larger in width than even a conventional king-size bed. This option allows booking flexibility in that the same stateroom can at different times be booked as providing separate, single beds, or optionally as providing a large common bed, comparable to or greater in size than that of a king-size bed. The option is effected by providing a readily assembleable and readily removable center bed section in the space between the normally spaced-apart separate beds. The invention thereby provides a means for increasing stateroom revenue in response to demand for large, shared bedding arrangements, when such demand occurs.

Abstract: An adjustable vehicle seat including first and second seat members pivotally interconnected such that the second seat member is pivotally movable between first and second opposed direction facing positions at opposed ends of the first seat member. An angular adjustment mechanism is associated with the interconnected first and second seat members and enables the angular relationship of the second seat member to be selectively adjusted with respect to the first seat member in a plurality of angular positions. A latch is provided for latching the second seat member in a fixed position when the second seat member is oriented in the first direction facing position.
