Interconnector Articulated To Back Extension Below Back-to-bottom Pivot Patents (Class 297/90)
  • Patent number: 9375372
Abstract: The stand-up unit comprises a support a stand-up frame, which is articulated on the support and has a seat carrier carrying a seat, and a backrest carrier carrying a backrest. Furthermore, a first lever parallelogram is provided in order to maintain the backrest upright in any position. The backrest can be displaced by the first lever parallelogram by means of a rod, in order to ensure that no undesirable relative movement occurs between the backrest and the back of the user when getting up or sitting down. A second lever parallelogram controls the movement of the seat when getting up and sitting down to ensure that no relative movement develops between the seat and buttocks of the user. The stand-up unit may be provided with a base to serve as a chair, particularly a therapy chair. The stand-up unit, however, may also serve as a stand-up wheelchair, when connected to an undercarriage. Spring joint elements support the standing up.

  • Patent number: 8573687
Abstract: A seating unit that includes a linkage mechanism adapted to adjust between closed, extended, and reclined positions is provided. The linkage mechanism includes a seat-mounting plate mounted to a footrest assembly, a back-mounting link and a rear bellcrank both rotatably coupled to the seat-mounting plate, an activator bar that controls a footrest drive link, and a linear actuator for carrying out automated adjustment of the linkage assembly. In operation, a stroke in a first phase of the linear actuator generates a torque on the activator bar. The footrest drive link converts the torque into a laterally-directed force that pushes the footrest assembly into the extended position. A stroke in the second phase acts to push the activator bar forward and translate the seat-mounting plate forward at a consistent inclination angle. The forward translation causes the rear bellcrank to rotate, thereby biasing the back-mounting link rearward into the reclined position.

  • Patent number: 4945582
Abstract: A multi-purpose chair/stretcher assembly is disclosed which includes seat, backrest and leg supporting assemblies, the backrest and leg supporting assemblies both being pivotably mounted to the seat assembly. A pair of telescoping linkage assemblies connect the backrest and leg supporting assemblies so that the pivotal movement of one with respect to the other causes both to rotate in the same direction if restricted from telescoping. If this linkage assembly is allowed to telescope, the backrest assembly may be moved independently of the leg supporting assembly. A second linkage assembly connects the leg supporting assembly with the seat assembly. This second linkage assembly, while extendable and contractable, may be locked in a rigid configuration so that the leg supporting assembly may be held in a fixed position with respect to the seat assembly.

  • Patent number: 4902069
Abstract: A seat or chair especially for a flight attendant in an aircraft has a backrest section and a seat section hinged to each other and to a frame in such a way that the backrest section and the seat section can take up different angular positions relative to each other and relative to a vertical frame or to the horizontal. Thus, the chair can be folded to take up several positions including positions in which the seat section takes up lower or higher elevations above the floor. For this purpose the upper end of the back rest section is pivotally guided in a guide mechanism while the lower end of the backrest section is journalled to the rear portion of the seat section at a journal axis which simultaneously forms the journal axis of a support and guide member also hinged to the seat section. The support and guide member is hinged intermediate its ends to the frame through a fixed journal so that the rear edge of the support and guide member can engage a stop in the frame.

  • Patent number: 4858260
Abstract: A multi-purpose patient support and transport apparatus is provided which includes a Trendelenburg mechanism and a novel guard rail assembly. The Trendelenburg mechanism is actuated by turning a handle in one direction. This allows a pneumatic spring connected between the seat and backrest assemblies to be fully contracted, thereby moving the backrest assembly to a Trendelenburg position. When the handle is turned in the opposite direction, the backrest may also be rotated downwardly, but is precluded from moving beyond the reclining position by a stop member which prevents the pneumatic spring shaft from moving entirely within the spring casing. The guard rail is mounted to the frame of the apparatus by a pair of pivot arms extending at an oblique angle with respect to the plane of the rail. This allows the rail to be stored under the frame when in the lowered position.

The chair assembly also features an improved mechanism permitting the application of pressure to a back rest to initiate movement of the chair seat and a foot rest relative to the chair supporting base between their upright and reclined positions without producing substantial coincident rearwardly directed reclining movements of the back rest relative to the chair seat. After the chair seat and foot rest are disposed in their reclined positions to define the intermediate reclined or TV position of the chair, the application of pressure to the back rest will effect movement thereof into its reclined position to thereby define the fully reclined position of the chair.
