  • Patent number: 9435100
Abstract: A rock ripping tool mountable to an excavation machine for engagement with a substrate has a rotatable tool body, a pair of side plates and a curved back plate mounted to the body, a bottom plate with an angled leading edge mounted to span a space between side plates, and a plurality of teeth, including a first set mounted to the front edge, the tip of each tooth lying on an arc having a first radius, a second set mounted to the bottom and/or back plate, the tip of each tooth lying an arc having a second radius greater than the first radius, and a third set of teeth mounted to the bottom plate and/or the back plate, with the tip of each tooth lying on an arc having a third radius greater than the first and second radii. Each tooth is configured to engage the substrate sequentially and individually.

  • Patent number: 8744286
Abstract: An image formation apparatus includes a toner cartridge, a toner-amount detector configured to detect a toner amount in the toner cartridge, a display unit, and an analyzer. The analyzer is configured to make the display unit display a used condition of the image formation apparatus when the image formation apparatus is in a small-amount mode where the toner amount is smaller than a threshold.

  • Patent number: 7059072
Abstract: An excavator bucket adapted to receive subsoiler shanks and an optional coulter blade enables multiple treatment of compacted soil. In a preferred embodiment, the shanks depend downward below the bucket and curve forward toward the bottom of the bucket. The shanks allow a single implement to be used for both excavating and subsoiling, and also for contouring sloping terrain. One application for such an implement is for decommissioning forest roads without the need for multiple pieces of heavy equipment or for multiple entries into the treatment area.

  • Patent number: 4746170
Abstract: There is provided a continuous mining system comprising at least one chassis, boom arrangement for supporting a continuous miner cutting head, roadheader turntable assembly and, optionally, drilling machine. The latter three items are adapted so that each of them can be removably mounted on any one of the at least one chassis. This enables a continuous mining operation to be carried out without the need to remove the whole of the mining machine if hard rock is encountered.

  • Patent number: 4276845
Abstract: An ice cutting and breaking vessel is disclosed for providing a shipping channel through an ice layer. The bow of the vessel is provided with a plurality of reciprocating cutting blades for cutting the ice into slabs. The slabs of ice slide under the bow and are pushed under the surrounding ice layer by a wedge-shaped prow depending from the bow and by water discharged laterally from the prow. The vessel is also provided with an emergency ballast tank, located above the water line, which can be quickly emptied through large ports. A pair of grapnels with attached cables may also be provided which are shot from the vessel. When the grapnel hits the ice layer, it pierces the ice and becomes wedged under the ice layer. Using the cables to pull on, the vessel can then haul itself toward the grapnels.
