Undercutting, Dislodging And Conveying Patents (Class 299/65)
  • Patent number: 7942605
Abstract: In one aspect of the invention a system for removing a layer of a paved surface comprising a vehicle is adapted to traverse a paved surface in a selected direction. The vehicle has a milling drum with an axle substantially parallel and connected to the vehicle within a milling chamber. The drum is adapted to rotate around the axle between the paved surface and the vehicle. A conveyor belt is attached to a forward end of the vehicle and comprises a portion proximate an opening of the milling chamber. The belt is adapted to carry loose aggregate from the milling drum away from the paved surface. At least one nozzle is disposed on an underside of the vehicle and is in communication with a reservoir through a pathway. The at least one nozzle is adapted to direct the loose aggregate towards the portion of the conveyor belt.

  • Patent number: 4486051
Abstract: A mining machine is disclosed comprising a mobile base and a cutting head assembly at a forward end of the mobile base having a cutter drum rotatable about an output shaft disposed along the longitudinal axis of the cutter drum. A drive system for the cutting head assembly comprises at least one motor for driving at least one toothed motor pinion and a generally cylindrical combination gear having generally circular end surfaces. A bevel or face gear is formed in at least one of the end surfaces, having teeth adapted to mate with and be driven by the toothed motor pinion. The combination gear has a worm gear formed in the outside cylindrical surface, which is disposed in driving engagement with the teeth of an output gear integrally and coaxially connected to the output shaft of the cutter drum.

  • Patent number: 4283090
Abstract: The front end portion of an endless belt type conveyor is detachably connected to the floor of a self-propelled tunneling shield, and the rear end of the conveyor is supported inclined upwardly by a trailing, mobile power unit which rides on spaced apart rails disposed along the tunnel floor. A pair of double acting hydraulic cylinders advance and retract a boom supporting carriage along support rails mounted along the length of the conveyor. An elongate boom is mounted on the carriage for movement with the carriage toward and away from the tunnel face. A combination digging and hoeing excavator tool is carried by the front end portion of the boom to loosen material at the tunnel face and then hoe the loosened material rearwardly onto the conveyor.
