Alternatively, the rod can be repositioned in a load state the rod head is spaced from the saw head. This allows the blade assembly to be removed and replaced. A control member mounted to the saw head controls the movement of the rod. When the rod is moved from the load state to the run state, a biasing member places a force on the rod to hold the rod in the run state.

The stop teeth members are positioned at an angle relative to the rip teeth members and allow the firefighter to easily maintain the tool in an overhead configuration when it is used to remove ceiling panels because the angle of the stop teeth members results in a hooking action so that the ceiling supports the weight of the tool to some extent. Since the stop teeth members defeat inadvertent withdrawal of the blade, the firefighter need not make multiple penetrations of the ceiling panels or other structural member being removed by the tool.

    Abstract: An electric knife of the kind having an elongated handle that serves as a container for a driving electric motor, a pair of blades projecting in an axial direction from the handle, the blades being releasably secured to a drive connected to the motor in such a manner that the blades are reciprocated so as to move in sliding contact with each other the blades having serrated cutting edges, which is characterized by the feature that the line containing the serrated cutting edge of each of the blades is off set from the axis of the handle in such a manner that if the line is extended in the direction of the handle there is a space between the line and any adjacent portion of the handle.

    Abstract: A blade tensioning device for a hacksaw or the like. A generally conventional hacksaw is provided with a plate in one leg of the frame, and the blade receiving pin is on the plate. A toggle joint is arranged to rotate the plate to move the pin and loosen the saw blade or to rotate the plate to move the pin and tension the blade. When the blade is tensioned, the toggle joint locks to hold the blade in tension. The frame has a bezel to fit over the end of the blade when the blade is in tension to prevent lateral movement of the blade. The opposite frame member may include an adjustable link to adjust for saw blade length or slight frame bending.

    Abstract: A pole type pruner with an enclosed blade type construction whereby the blade is supported from the sides thru the whole cutting cycle so a thinner blade can be used for easier cutting and less distortion to the wood and bark. This distortion is further reduced by a more choke type, more confining type cutting method, and because regardless of tree limb direction or position the cutting angle of the blade can be directed nearly perpendicular to the limb due to the use of a pole section angle changing box. A pruning saw, one end pivoted to the end of the cutter blade handle, sheathed when desired, being used as part of the cutter blade pull system makes the saw always conveniently available to be pivoted to proper angle of saw direction and clamped to the cutter blade in this position for saw pruning and yet eliminates an awkward outward projection when it's not used for saw pruning. The twist type of blade return coil spring used also reduces any awkward projection.
