  • Patent number: 4779342
Abstract: A hand-operated cable cutter includes a rotary blade-rotating mechanism comprising a first pinion and a gear which are provided on the side of a stationary handle and a second pinion which is provided on the side of a movable handle, a ratchet lever, and a detent pawl. The ratchet lever and detent pawl are operated to be switched between their respective different states relative to the second pinion, thereby enabling a rotary blade not only in the direction of cutting off a cable but also in the direction of releasing the cable.

  • Patent number: 4677748
Abstract: A hand-operated cable cutter includes a stationary cutter blade having a first curved jaw and a first cutting edge, a movable cutter blade having a second curved jaw and a second cutting edge, gear teeth provided on the movable cutter blade, a drive mechanism, a stationary handle having a distal end secured to the stationary cutter blade, and a swing handle having a distal end mounted pivotally relative to the stationary cutter blade and stationary handle. The movable cutter blade is pivotally connected to the stationary cutter blade. The drive mechanism comprises a pinion kept in engagement with the gear teeth, a ratchet wheel mounted concentrically with and for rotation with the pinion, a knob connected to the pinion, a driving pawl pivotally connected to the swing handle and kept engageable with the ratchet wheel to rotate the ratchet wheel in one direction, and a detent pawl kept in engagement with the ratchet wheel to prevent the ratchet wheel from being rotated in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4599795
Abstract: A cutting tool of the ratchet operated type comprises several elements. A movable blade having a plurality of notches along the rear end thereof is moved relative to a stationary blade by an opening and closing operation of a pair of blades through a push bar which is in engagement with one of the notches. A pawl for preventing the return of the movable blade is elastically biased so as to be kept in a position disengaged from all of the notches under normal conditions. The pawl is brought into engagement with one of the notches by the push bar only when the pair of handles are fully closed relative to each other. Due to the above construction, the cutting tool according to the invention brings about reduced wear of the pawl and the notches and an easy cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 4345377
Abstract: A dehorning tool has a tabular body with a lever arm pivotally mounted on the upper half and connected to an end of a actuating arm inside the body. The other end of the actuating arm is connected to the ends of two cutting blades. There are camming means inside of the blades to cam them open when the blades are extended and there are camming means on the outside of the blades which cam the blades together when the actuating lever is moved to retract the blades.

  • Patent number: 4198749
Abstract: Mechanical or hydraulic press stampings are widely used for a manufactured product as thin material may be accurately blanked thereon so that only a minor amount of expensive machining is required. A compound pivot plier-type tool is provided wherein a pair of handles is pivotally mounted on and between a pair of plates which form a recess for the reception of a selected pair of jaws which are mounted therein by removable means so that a kit can be furnished with a pair of handles and mounting plates and several of the same or different types of pairs of jaws which may be easily substituted, one for the other in the recess between the plates for operation by the handles. The parts are relatively thin so that they may be largely formed by mechanical or hydraulic press stamping operations with resulting low labor costs.
