  • Patent number: 10173335
Abstract: A cutting device is provided. The cutting device has a body which forms the structure of the device. A slot is formed by the body along the length of its bottom face. The slot is inset as a channel along the length of the bottom face, extending from front to back of the body. A cutting blade spans the channel at a distance above the bottom face and below a top of the channel. In a method of use, a material may be positioned in the slot, and the body may be drawn across the material (or material drawn through slot). The blade may then cut the material as it passes through the channel.

  • Patent number: 8561394
Abstract: Suggested is a procedure for heating a catalyst in the exhaust gas system of a supercharged combustion engine with direct fuel injection and variable gas exchange valve control by producing a reactive exhaust gas fuel/air mixture in the exhaust gas system, whereby an air percentage of the reactive fuel/air mixture is thereby produced that air is rinsed from a suction system of the combustion engine over its combustion chambers into the exhaust gas system. The invention distinguishes itself thereby that the combustion engine is operated in idle mode after a cold start with a greater valve overlap and/or a greater valve overlap profile than in a normal operation where the catalyst is already heated as well as with an apportionment of a fuel amount that has to be injected before a combustion into at least two partial injections per ignition and combustion chamber and with a suboptimal ignition angle efficiency.

Abstract: A small, handheld sheet material cutter has a pair of cooperating cutting wheels and a mechanism for easily adjusting the position of one of the cutting wheels in order to provide a lateral gap of varying width between the cutting edges of the two cutting wheels, thus permitting the cutter to cleanly cut sheet material of various thicknesses. The cutter also has a guide bar that can be used in combination with any sheet metal brake to provide straight cuts. Since the cutter need not be mounted on a sheet metal-brake, it can also be used freehand to cut curves and angles.

  • Patent number: 7017273
Abstract: A device for trimming a candlewick trims the wick at a predetermined height above a candle. The device includes first and second elongated gripping arms that are pivotably coupled to each other at a first end. An opening is formed at the first end between the first and second gripping arms. A pair of cutting blades are arranged between and transverse to the elongated gripping arms. The cutting blades are spaced a distance away from the first end of the first and second gripping arms, the distance being equal to the predetermined height. When the first end of the first and second gripping arms is set on the candle such that the candlewick extends through the opening, pivoting the first and second gripping arms causes the cutting blades to trim the candlewick at the predetermined height.

Abstract: A shingle cutting tool for trimming shingles includes a vertical panel having a front edge, a back edge, a bottom edge and a top edge. A horizontal slot for receiving shingles extends into the front edge and extends toward the back edge. A front handle is attached to the vertical panel and is positioned nearer the front edge than the back edge. A plurality of cutting members is attached to the vertical panel and each extends into a plane of the slot. The cutting members include a cutting edge directed generally toward the front edge. A horizontal panel is attached to and extends away from either side of the vertical panel. The shingles are inserted into the slot and the front edge pulled forward such that the cutting members cut the shingles.

  • Patent number: 6854184
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a cutting device including a first blade portion having a handle and a cutting surface and a second blade portion having a handle and a cutting surface. The first and second blade portions are coupled together and intersect at a pivot point. A rivet is mounted through the pivot point attaching the first and second blade portions, where then rivet further comprises a head elevated with respect to the first blade portion. A cover for covering at least a portion of the first and second blade portions is provided. The cover has a rivet head receiving slot so that when the first and second blade portions are in a closed position and when the cover is positioned over the first and second blade portions, the rivet head frictionally engages the receiving slot so that the cover is frictionally attached to the rivet head.

Abstract: The seam gauge and table guard attachment attaches to a pair of conventional scissors. The protective guard includes a rigid, unitary U-shaped frame with a rectangular base portion and an inclined cover portion. The inclined cover portion has a plurality of fastener holes for receiving a fastener. A fastener is provided for engaging the fastener holes to secure the protective guard to the conventional scissors. The inclined cover portion is positioned over the stationary blade and the protective guard is secured to the scissors by the fastener. The rectangular base portion is disposed below the cutting blade to prevent the scissors from cutting beyond a specific point. The protective guard allows a user to clip the seam allowance on a rag quilt without cutting through and damaging the seam of a rag quilt.

Abstract: A drywall cutting tool provides cuts in drywall material either parallel or perpendicular to a reference edge of the sheet, without repositioning the tool from the reference edge. The tool comprises a T square, with the head and stem portions immovably affixed to one another. The stem of the tool carries a slidably adjustable cutting body thereon, with the cutting body being secured through an elongate slot formed in the center of the stem portion of the device. The cutting body carries a pair of spaced apart cutting rollers or discs, and may be turned so the cutting axes of the two discs define a line either parallel or perpendicular to the reference edge of the sheet, and thus perpendicular or parallel to the stem of the tool.
