  • Patent number: 8595941
Abstract: An assisted-opening knife has a spring tied to a front of a blade carrier and a movable slider assembly within a slot formed through the blade carrier, so that a blade can be rapidly extended by the elastic force without going through stepwise movement. An expanded portion of the slot engaging the slider assembly allows the blade to be received in a holder and ejected only when the slider assembly fully disengages from the expanded portion, thereby generating no sudden ejection of the blade. Additionally, a safety latch securely locks the blade when the blade is fully retracted. When the blade is fully extended, a stopper engages the slider assembly to prevent the blade from being retracted during cutting and stabbing. Accordingly, the assisted-opening knife addresses a solution to rapidly extend the blade for cutting and stabbing without compromising the safety considerations.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for mounting a saw-blade provided with an opening to a carrier which is connected to a drive device to make a reciprocating movement, wherein the device comprises: a wall extending in the direction of movement which is suitable for contact with a side of the saw-blade; a mounting body which is rotatable opposite the wall around a shaft extending perpendicularly of the direction of movement and parallel to the wall and which is provided with a protrusion which is movable into the opening arranged in the saw-blade; and urging means for urging the mounting body to a mounting position wherein the protrusion extends into the opening arranged in the saw-blade. Mounting takes place because via the sphere the saw-blade generates a moment in clockwise direction relative to the shaft. This moment is counteracted by a moment that is generated by the friction between the actuating rod and the contact surface.

  • Patent number: 5055106
Abstract: A scalpel comprises a shank having a holder for releasably mounting a surgical blade. A ball of plastic material is formed by injection molding on the blade proper which consists of metal. The holder includes a sleeve, which is threadedly engaged with the shank at one end thereof and adapted to be screwed axially along the shank. The sleeve forms a ball socket, which is adapted to receive the ball of the blade therein. A clamping rod extends axially within the socket between the shank and the ball to engage and disengage said ball by the sleeve being screwed on the shank. The end of the clamping rod, which is adjacent to the ball, forms a circular sharp edge of a diameter which is substantially smaller than the diameter of the ball, thus cutting into the plastic material of the ball when the sleeve is screwed to engage the clamping rod with said ball.
