Patent number: 8083602Abstract: A cue stick tip tool includes a shaper that can contour the tip to a nickel or dime radius by using an abrasive formed within a hollow shaper body. Also included is a ferrule guide surface leading to abrasive material usable to trim a side of the cue tip while holding the ferrule clear of the abrasive material to avoid scuffing the ferrule. Another included tool has a concave cylindrical grid of upstanding pointed spikes that can be rolled over the cue tip to make a pattern of chalk holding indentations in the cue tip. The tool package preferably also includes a conical recess for burnishing a side of the cue tip, arcs to measure nickel and dime radii of the cue tip, and a container holding a chalk block and talcum powder—all arranged to be carried on a belt clip.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2008Date of Patent: December 27, 2011Inventor: Kevin D Contestabile

Patent number: 7568978Abstract: A cue tip tool is a cylindrical jig having a longitudinal bore forming its body into a tube that accepts a cue being tipped. The jig body has three equally positioned slots cut through the tubular wall, and the outer surface of the jig has a collar that squeezes the jig against the cue ensuring that the axis of the cue is aligned with the jig. The end of the jig is a cylindrical surface stepped to a larger diameter, and the stepped cylinder is coaxial with the axis of the jig and the axis of the cue. Three auxiliary units configured to separately engage the jig provide for burnishing the end of the cue's ferrule, positioning the cue tip being installed during gluing, and cleaning the cue tip of accumulated chalk debris, while maintaining accurate alignment of the cue tip with the cue's axis.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2008Date of Patent: August 4, 2009Inventor: Frederick Ernest Probst

Patent number: 6905417Abstract: A pool cue tip conditioning device has a striker plate carrying tip-indenting fingers on its bottom side, the plate located for being driven into a pool cue tip to indent the tip without damaging it. The striker plate is driven by a plunger controlled by a return spring. A plug is located above the plunger, the plug having an aperture in a bottom surface for receiving the tip of the plunger when the post of the plunger is centered. The plug is held off-center by an aysmmetric return spring which allows the tip of the post to become centered and to move upward into the aperture when the striker plate is moved upward by insertion of a pool cue. A work spring stronger than the return spring then forces the plug downward, slamming into the plunger, which drives the striker plate into the cue tip.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2003Date of Patent: June 14, 2005Inventors: Johnny A.
