Sprinkler And Cutter Patents (Class 30/DIG7)
  • Patent number: 6134789
Abstract: This invention relates to the cutting or trimming of grass directly over the top of the pop-up sprinkle head's shaft. In the past the grass and roots would cross over the path of the sprinkle's pop-up shaft restricting or stopping the upward movement of the shaft and deflecting or stopping the water spray pattern of the sprinkle. This invention will cut a very narrow cylindrical shaped hole down to the top of the pop-up head of the sprinkler eliminating the unsightly bowl shape cut in the grass of the prior patents and leaving a clean unrestricted small opening in the grass.

  • Patent number: 5938290
Abstract: A grass trimmer (10) for a sprinkler head (12) on a water supply pipe (14) in a lawn (16) comprising a handle (18) with a handgrip (20) transversely attached to a top end of the handle (18). A tubular cutting assembly (22) is also provided. A structure (24) is for connecting a bottom end (26) of the handle (18) to an upper end (28) of the tubular cutting assembly (22). When the tubular cutting assembly (22) is placed over the sprinkler head (12) and the handgrip (20) is turned back and forth, the tubular cutting assembly (22) will remove grass (30) from about the sprinkler head (12) in the lawn (16).

  • Patent number: 5464067
Abstract: A golf marker cleaner having a housing with a central bore with a set of individually retractable soil-engaging arms, each having one end pivotally connected to the housing and a second end with a soil-engaging tine to prevent movement of the soil-engaging arm, with a rotatable shaft extending through the bore in said housing and rotatably journaled therein to permit rotation of the shaft about the central axis, and a resilient pad attached to the shaft, with the resilient pad having a surface for rotatingly engaging a top surface of a marker on a golf course without marring the surface of the marker and to limit the axial displacement of soil-cutting blades connected to the shaft, with the soil cutting blade having U-shaped cutting blades located thereon to permit an operator to rotate the soil-cutting blade to cut free an annular portion of soil and grass located around the golf course marker.

  • Patent number: 5461788
Abstract: A device is disclosed for trimming grass from around a pop-up sprinkler having an annular top and a pop-up head concentrically mounted within the top. The device comprises a handle having a grip mounted on one end. A circular cutting element is mounted on the opposing end, the circular cutting element having a diameter larger than that of the annular top. A centering device mounted within the interior of the circular cutting element engages the pop-up head and centers the device over the top.

  • Patent number: 4479302
Abstract: A cup-shaped grass cutting implement which is removably attached to existing rotary cutting heads of powered edgers of the type that can orient the cutting head to rotate about a vertically displaced axis. A quick disconnect feature which allows the cup-like attachment to be retained by the flat blade of such a powered rotary cutting head without interfering with the already assembled blade. The invention provides for a quickly administered pair of retainment fingers which surround the flat cutting blade at points slightly apart from the shaft arrangement for rotating such flat blades.

  • Patent number: 3938249
Abstract: A powered device is disclosed herein for removing soil, weeds or the like from the immediate area beneath a sprinkler head which includes a central shaft having a forward end engageable with the sprinkler head as a guide and a U-shaped member fixed on the shaft so as to rotate therewith. Each leg of the U-shaped member extends downwardly to clear the peripherial edge of the circular sprinkler head. A cutting blade is angularly secured to each end or leg of the U-shaped member so that a forward portion thereof extends underneath the sprinkler head and so that a rearward portion extends outwardly in a diverging relationship to the sprinkler head. Power drive is releasably coupled to the shaft for rotation of the cutting blades about the sprinkler head.
