  • Publication number: 20150033489
Abstract: A wire core brush composed of a core comprising at least two wires twisted together between which are held bristle-forming elements, which form bristles that protrude from the core, characterized in that the wire core brush has been produced in such a way that after the twisting, it has first bristles protruding from the core essentially in the radial direction with a first length and also has second bristles protruding from the core essentially in the radial direction with a second length that is greater than the first length so that the second bristles protrude beyond the first bristles essentially in the radial direction; after this, the brush has been pulled through a hot tube whose inner diameter and temperature are selected and matched to the residence time of the brush in the tube so that a section of the second bristles is permanently oriented essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the wire core.

  • Patent number: 8931855
Abstract: A formable handle toothbrush has a handle portion that allows a user to heat and form the handle to the shape of their hand to provide for more secure grip of the toothbrush. In one embodiment, a hand formable toothbrush has a toothbrush head attached to a shank that can be inserted into a socket within the toothbrush handle. This configuration allows for the use of replacement toothbrush heads. This makes manufacturing of higher cost handles more economical, as the formable handle portions would not be thrown out when the toothbrush head needs replacement. To customize the formable handle portion, a user may simply place the toothbrush, or handle portion of the toothbrush, in boiling water for a period of time and then remove the toothbrush handle, allow it to cool to a safe temperature and then grasp the handle to form it into the shape of their hand.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing round brushes, which have bristles twisted in between two portions of a folded wire. The apparatus has a bristle feeding device and a rotary gripper for twisting two portions of wire with bristles located therebetween, a deflecting device with two deflecting rollers spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the wire. The rotary gripper is linearly displaceable transversely in relation to the longitudinal direction of the wire, for gripping the folded region of the wire that is formed by force being applied by an application element that is adjustable between the deflecting rollers transversely in relation to the longitudinal direction of the wire. A bristle feeding device, for feeding bristles to the bent-around portions of wire, is provided in the region of the deflecting rollers. In the region of the unfolded portions of wire there is provided a device for slowing the advancement of the wire.
