  • Patent number: 8690263
Abstract: A molding process and a mold for manufacturing a toothbrush of plastic material with a resistant inner core, is disclosed. It is provided to manufacture a resistant inner core, and to introduce it into a mold cavity having opposite footprints belonging to a lower half-mold and an upper half-mold and to subsequently inject molten plastic material into the mold cavity for manufacturing at least part of the toothbrush handle. A resistant metal core is placed into a respective footprint of the lower half-mold in contact with at least two support platforms, adapted to support the core in the proximity of a central line of the mold cavity, and before the injection of structural plastic material, to couple the lower half-mold with an upper half-mold having at least one ribbing to contact with the metal core at least in a position between the support platforms and in a position opposite thereto.

  • Patent number: 8297710
Abstract: A toothbrush including a brush main body of a synthetic resin and having a bristle base and bristles of a thermoplastic resin which have been fusion-bonded to the bristle base to constitute a bristled part, the bristles constituting the bristled part at least partly comprise: tapered bristles which are bristles having split free ends, the split free ends having been tapered beforehand; tapered bristles which have a sectional shape having a core-sheath structure or islands in a sea structure; or tapered bristles in each of which a core bristle comprising a core or island part has been formed beforehand so as to be exposed at the free end. The toothbrush has excellent suitability for bristle insertion into narrow parts. It is highly effective in removing dental plaque and cleaning the teeth. It is highly easy to use in the oral cavity. It further has a highly attractive appearance.

  • Patent number: 5221123
Abstract: Disclosed are new brush constructions having at least one receptable formed into a brush piece. The receptacles receive integrally formed bristle clusters which each have a plurality of bristles or tines. The receptacles include a central cavity preferably surrounded by deflection flutes. The flutes receive the tines and force them together and into upstanding orientations. The central cavity extends below the flutes to provide a stabilizer receptacle which receives a stabilizer portion of the bristle cluster core. The bristle clusters are comprised of a plurality of tines which are connected at a central juncture and extend outwardly when the bristle cluster is in the relaxed uninstalled condition. The invention further discloses an apparatus and method for making the brushes by simultaneously ejecting the bristle clusters from a mold and into the receptacles in the brush piece.

  • Patent number: 4749233
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the manufacture of bristle products, such as paintbrushes, brushes, brooms and the like, which comprise a bristle carrier and bristle bundles fixed thereto. The bristles are drawn from a continuous strand on a storage reel and pass through a mould, so that the strand is given a random cross-sectional shape. Downstream of the mould, the reshaped continuous strands are fixed to a bristle carrier and then bristles are cut to the desired length, so that the bristle bundles can be given different shapes and the bristle material can be continuously processed from the reel. The cross-sectional shape of the individual bristle bundles can be adapted to the particular intended use.
