  • Patent number: 8970406
Abstract: In one embodiment, a power amplification system of a radio-frequency transmitter includes a digital signal source that provides a digital input signal to an interleaved-bit-stream generator, which outputs a digital switching signal to a switching power amplifier. The interleaved-bit-stream generator has an eight-path interleaving architecture that helps reduce the effective clock-rate requirements of the interleaved-bit-stream generator. The interleaved-bit-stream generator includes an array of fractional-delay filters for receiving the digital input signal and outputting eight fractionally delayed digital output signals to a bit-stream generation array adapted to output eight corresponding bit streams to a serializer block that interleaves and combines the eight bit-streams into the digital switching signal. The relative phases of the interleaved signals may be adjusted to achieve certain desired effects.

  • Publication number: 20090096277
Abstract: The invention is directed to a rim such as a rim for a cycle. The rim includes a circularly extending hollow box-shaped element, in the form of a radial profile of revolution about a transverse axis, with two end surfaces of such element being joined end-to-end at a junction and affixed via a sleeve that is positioned within the hollow box-shaped element, on each side of the junction. The sleeve includes a pair of bearing portions, which exert an internal force inside and against the walls of the hollow box-shaped element, such force being generated by a relative spacing apart of the bearing portions via a spreading device, such as at least one spacing member. The spacing member can be a wedging member or a screw, configured and arranged in association with the bearing portions so as to direct the bearing forces along an essentially transverse direction toward the side walls of the rim. The invention is also directed to a wheel having such a rim, as well as to a method of manufacturing such rim and wheel.

  • Patent number: 6398313
Abstract: A bicycle rim constructed from a fiber reinforcement impregnated with a resinous material to provide stiffness, strength, is light in weight and presents minimal aerodynamic drag. The rim is constructed from two semi-circular rim sections that are each formed from glass, carbon, or boron fibers that are applied at distinctive crossing angles as layers or “plys”, receive an epoxy thermoset resin or a nylon thermoplastic resin, and are cured in a mold cavity. A pair of rim half sections are matched and are coupled together at their ends into a circle by telescoping aligned ends of each of the rim half sections over inner inserts that an epoxy structural adhesive has been applied to, and the joined rim section ends receive a gusset fitted and bonded along the rim half section end junctions, and with the finished rim drilled appropriately. to receive and mount spoke ends.

  • Patent number: 3998258
Abstract: An expandable tire rim arrangement is disclosed including a transversely split tire supporting rim having an outer peripheral tire engaging surface, an inner peripheral surface, and relatively circumferentially movable ends disposable between a rim diameter reducing position for ease of insertion of the supporting rim axially into a tire and a rim diameter increasing position, and a rim expanding and wheel mounting assembly having diametric dimensions somewhat larger than the diameter of the inner peripheral surface of the supporting rim when in its diameter reducing position and being axially slidably insertable into the supporting rim for tightly expanding it against the tire.
