Trussed Patents (Class 301/129)
  • Patent number: 11396977
Abstract: An axle assembly for a landfill compactor includes an axle housing, a carrier housing located proximate the center of the axle housing, a drain plug located on an underside of the carrier housing, and a guard. The guard is attached to the underside of the carrier housing with adhesive such that the guard covers the drain plug and is configured to protect and give access to the drain.

  • Patent number: 11241911
Abstract: A spindle for a wheel end assembly includes a first end of the spindle receiving the wheel of a vehicle on a first side of the wheel end assembly, and a second end of the spindle defining a flange and receiving the axle of a vehicle is disclosed. The flange includes a socket joint that receives the axle on the second side of the wheel end assembly. Mounting members extend distally from the second side a first distance to secure the spindle to the wheel end assembly via the flange. The socket joint of the spindle extends from the second side of the wheel end assembly a second distance from the second side. The second distance is greater than the first distance. A third distance represents degree of overlap of the axle by a ratio with respect to the outer diameter of the axle ranging from 8% to 20%.

  • Patent number: 7537290
Abstract: An extruded, tubular vehicle axle for front and rear wheel applications, is formed with integral, radially outwardly extending ribs, at the radial top and bottom dead centers of the axle, and continuously extending longitudinally along substantially the entire length of the axle parallel to the axis of the axle. The opposite end portions of the axle are snugly inserted within corresponding sockets formed, for example, in a vehicle axle yoke or carrier or housing, which sockets are provided with internal grooves for snugly receiving the ribs at the respective end portions. The exterior wall surface of the axle is substantially uniform in cross-section. The interior wall surface of the axle tube may vary, at pre-selected locations, to increase or decrease the wall thicknesses at such locations. The axle resists rotation relative to the sockets, under extreme torsional loads, and resists longitudinal bending or flexing, while being of relatively light weight.

  • Patent number: 4310200
Abstract: A truss assembly is provided for the drive axle of an automotive vehicle in which the drive axle includes a differential having a pair of axle housings extending laterally outwardly from opposite sides of the differential and in which a drive wheel is connected to the free end of the axle mounted in each axle housing. The truss assembly comprises a first truss member which is rigidly secured to one of the axle housings and, similarly, a second truss member which is rigidly secured to the other axle housing. One end of each truss member is positioned adjacent the axle differential. An elongated bar is rigidly secured at one end to one of the truss members at its end adjacent the differential and extends toward the other truss member underneath the axle differential and so that a mid portion of the bar abuts along the bottom of the differential. The opposite end of the bar is externally threaded and positioned through an opening in the other truss member at its end adjacent the differential.
