Radially Acting Wedge Patents (Class 301/18)
  • Patent number: 10717322
Abstract: A variable track wheel comprises a rim suitable for receiving a tire, and a disc through which said wheel is mountable on a hub, said disc being removably secured by fastenings to a connecting member provided in said rim, said connecting member projecting towards a rotation axis of said wheel, said wheel further comprising a plurality of spacers interposed between an annular perimeter zone of said disc and said connecting member of said rim, said disc and said rim being mountable in a plurality of reciprocal axial positions and in a plurality of reciprocal orientations to obtain a variation in the track of said wheel, said wheel further comprising at least one centering device for mutual positioning of said disc and of said rim said centering device comprising a hole and a pin said hole or said pin being provided in said connecting member or in said disc said centering device further comprising a coupling element so conformed as to cooperate with said hole and with said pin for reciprocally coupling said pin

  • Patent number: 4371213
Abstract: Dual tire carrying rims seated and locked on a vehicle wheel by fastening assemblies. A wheel has spoke members with dimensioned fellow surfaces for mating engagement with coacting surfaces on a plurality of radially inwardly projecting clamp lugs. A rim base edge portion is confined and carried by the integrally secured clamp lugs which decrease the effective diameter of a rim.

  • Patent number: 4049320
Abstract: A vehicle wheel for dual mounting of inner and outer tire carrying rims having a radially inwardly projecting component using a spacer or separating means. The spacer may be conventional or may be one of the spacer embodiments disclosed herein. The wheel felloe portions have a concave and axially extending pocket therein housing the axially projecting component of a fastening assembly for locking the rims and spacer on the wheel. The axially inner end of the pocket terminates at a radially directed surface providing a mounting location for the fastening assembly axial component and intersecting a radially inclined felloe surface for seating the inner rim on the wheel. The axially outer end of the pocket has spaced-apart axially projecting wing portions for seating the outer rim on the wheel. The novel spacer embodiments are non-compressible and precisely located relative to a felloe portion pocket by engagement with a fastening assembly axial component.

  • Patent number: 3950032
Abstract: A wedge-shaped split ring is interposed between the rim and hub of a heavy vehicle wheel to prevent the rim and hub from separating during use and maintain a predetermined relationship or proper contact at the yield point between the wheel and hub during extreme torque and weight conditions. Bolts are provided for axially tensioning the split ring relative to a cam surface to the required radial support and contact. The mounting is designed primarily for extremely heavy duty earth moving equipment and the like. The split ring is expanded or contracted by adjustably tensioning bolts to distribute the weight of the vehicle upon the hub.
