  • Patent number: 11305578
Abstract: An aircraft wheel rim includes a main portion and a removable portion. The main portion includes a hub and a disk extending between the hub and an annular outer portion that receives a tire and is shaped to form a rim one of its sides of the annular outer portion. A second side of the annular outer portion is shaped to receive the removable portion, which forms a second flange on the second side of the annular outer portion after a tire has been put into place. The rim further includes a blocking device that limits rotation of the removable portion relative to the main portion. The blocking element include at least one key having a head engaged in a matching receptacle in the removable portion and a root engaging a steel peg that is shrink fitted in the main portion.

Abstract: The invention is a three tire and rim wheel assembly called the TTAssembly. The assembly consists of a large diameter center wheel with two identical smaller diameter wheels on the inboard and outboard sides respectively. The TTAssembly replaces the standard rim/tire assemblies on a vehicle, one for each hub. This maximizes gas mileage and the safety requirements of the vehicle. It also reduces maintenance costs and eliminates the need for a spare tire.

  • Patent number: 6848526
Abstract: A quick release hub for the outer tires and wheels of dual wheel assemblies on a vehicle such as a mortar buggy to enable the vehicle to move through a narrow doorway or other passageway having a width less than the total distance between the outermost surfaces of the outer tires. The quick release hub includes a two component hub secured together by a single fastening device which enables quick and easy removal and replacement of the outer tires and wheels. A combination engine electrical control switch for the mortar buggy engine automatically controls a fuel supply valve to open and close the fuel valve in response to the engine control switch. An operator's platform and brake actuator are mounted at the rear of the mortar buggy with the brake actuator extending transversely at the forward portion of the platform to enable an operator to use either foot to operate the brake actuator.

  • Publication number: 20020149256
Abstract: A dual wheel assembly is formed by an inner wheel (10) and an outer wheel (30) coaxially mounted on a common hub (11). The inner wheel (10) has an inner tyre (13) mounted on an inner wheel rim (12). The outer wheel (30) has an outer tyre (13A) mounted on an outer wheel rim (32). The wheels (13, 13A) are of the same size, but the diameter of the outer wheel rim (32) is smaller than the inner wheel rim (12), to permit the inner tyre (13) to pass over the outer wheel rim (32), thereby enabling the inner tyre (13) to be removed without first removing the outer wheel rim (32). Removable bead seats (37, 40) are provided between the outer wheel rim (32) and its tyre (13A). These bead seats are thicker than the corresponding bead seat(s) on the inner wheel (10) to compensate for the reduced diameter of the outer wheel rim.
