  • Publication number: 20120007414
Abstract: A protective cover for automobile deep dish wheel rims is disk shaped and includes an annular groove protruding outwards from a back surface. A plurality of rubber gripping pads are included along the outward-facing surface of the annular groove for enhancing attachment of the cover to a wheel rim. A semi-circular groove in the annular groove is sized to accommodate the valve stem of the automobile tire. Handles protruding from a front surface of the cover enable gripping the protective cover when attaching and detaching the cover to a wheel rim. One or more annular shoulders on the disk shaped body of the cover to enhance rigidity of the cover. In a second preferred embodiment, the annular groove is fitted along its outer surface with a weather strip rather than rubber gripping pads.

  • Patent number: 7806484
Abstract: The removable wheel protector apparatus has a round flat disc with a plurality of spaced apart covered clips affixed to the perimeter. The handle is disposed in the center of the disc. The bottom perimeter of the disc features a rubberized seal. The apparatus is pushed onto and pulled off of a wheel and removably held via the clips. The suction cup further aids in retention of the cover on the wheel. The apparatus provides a hands-free seal against invasion of any foreign substance, including water. Edges of various apparatus components are coated or rounded to ensure against scratching any surface.

  • Patent number: 7204561
Abstract: A is attached to a hollow portion in a wheel, an inner peripheral groove is provided on an inner peripheral surface of the hollow portion and an outer peripheral groove is provided on the outer peripheral surface of the cap, forming a single annular space. Into the annular space a C-spring or an O-ring is inserted, thereby attaching the cap to the wheel. Further, the O-ring is sandwiched between the annular surface of the wheel and the inner surface of the cap, or magnets are sandwiched therebetween, for eliminating rattling.

  • Patent number: 6783189
Abstract: A noise abatement ring having a low coefficient of friction is captured in an annular channel on the inner face of a wheel cover and abuts a vehicle wheel when the wheel cover is mounted to the wheel. The wheel cover is assembled by registering radial tabs formed on a wall of the channel and spaced from the base of the channel with notches formed in the ring and seating the ring into the channel. Thereafter, the ring is rotated relative to the wheel cover into a captive position, wherein the tabs and notches are no longer registered and with the tabs overlying reduced thickness stepped portions of the ring. A leaf spring latch, formed in one piece with the ring, seats into a detent on the inner face of the wheel cover to prevent rotation of the ring from the captive position.
