Patent number: 6676224Abstract: In a tire-wheel assembly, in which a pneumatic tire is installed to a rim of a wheel, an auxiliary ring or auxiliary plate of which dynamic balance has been adjusted is attached coaxially with the wheel onto a rim flange on an outside of the wheel when the tire-wheel assembly is attached onto a vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2002Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tomohiko Kogure, Tatsuo Suzuki, Shinji Seimiya, Eiji Saito

Patent number: 6527346Abstract: The invention is a vehicle wheel with a removable vehicle wheel ring and vehicle wheel sized and shaped to simulate the look of a bead-lock vehicle wheel. It has the same appearance as an off road bead lock vehicle wheel. This vehicle wheel can be fabricated without modifying an existing wheel and is street legal wheel and capable of mass-production. The wheel is capable of production at a fraction of the cost of an actual bead lock wheel. The wheel can be produced with a matching or contrasting color for the simulated outer bead lock ring. The simulated outer bead lock ring can have a light reflective surface so that the ring will become much more distinguishable when a light source strikes it. The simulated outer bead lock ring has a far greater ease of interchangeability than a conventional bead lock vehicle wheel.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2001Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Inventor: James Chen

Patent number: 6517166Abstract: A wheel rim includes a transparent adhesive layer provided on the surface of the wheel rim, a light-reflective particle layer which is substantially free of any superimposed or overlapping particles and which is formed by spreading solely and uniformly dry light-reflective particles on the transparent adhesive layer and contacting directly the particles with the transparent adhesive layer, the particles having dimensions larger than the thickness of the transparent adhesive layer so that some of the dry light-reflective particles which do not contact the transparent adhesive layer can be allowed to fall off the transparent adhesive layer by gravity, and a transparent protective layer provided on the light-reflective particle layer.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2002Date of Patent: February 11, 2003Assignee: Giant Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventor: Jeff Chen

Publication number: 20020124923Abstract: An assembly including a deformable, inextensible tread-bearing support S, which can be slipped on to a suitable rim bearing surface (11). The bearing surface (11) extends axially towards the inside of a first rim seat (13′), which is in turn extended to the outside by a protrusion or hump (15′) of low height. The first rim seat (13′) is inclined towards the outside. A second rim seat (13″) having, viewed in meridian section, a generatrix, the axially inner end of which is located on a circle of diameter D″A greater than the diameter of the circle on which is located the axially inner end D′A of the first rim seat (13′). The two seats being, axially to the inside, extended by frustoconical portions (17, 14) of a height at least equal to 0.01 times the minimum diameter of the bearing surface (11), and the generatrices of which form with the axis of rotation angles &agr; at least equal to 45°.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2001Publication date: September 12, 2002Applicant: Michelin Recherche et Technique S.A.Inventors: Richard Abinal, Thomas Emberger, Jean-Pierre Pompier

Patent number: 6286572Abstract: A shock-absorbing safety wheel includes a rim, a hub at the center of the rim and connected by a plurality of spring plates and radial support, and a solid tire slidably mounted on the outer periphery of the rim and secured by a pair of rim shields. It is characterized that the spring plates provide shock-absorbing function to the wheel and the tire is made of solid rubber which will not become flat, which eliminates the need to carry a spare wheel.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2000Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Inventor: Ling-Lea Chen
