  • Publication number: 20060152069
Abstract: A wheel assembly includes spaced first and second lateral supports. The first lateral support includes a first mount and the second lateral support includes a second mount that is axially aligned with the first mount. All space between the first mount and the second mount is devoid of any structural component that directly interconnects the first and second lateral supports. The wheel assembly also includes a circumferential rim structure that is adapted to support a tire. The first and second lateral supports attach to the rim structure at first and second locations, respectively, that are radially spaced from the first and second mounts, respectively. Vehicles and swing-arm assemblies including exemplary wheel assemblies are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6902240
Abstract: A wheel for an in-line skate includes a hub composed of two halves. Each half has a centrally defined axle hole, a hollow cylinder formed on a periphery defining the axle hole, multiple rods formed on the inner side face, multiple indents defined in the inner side face and alternate relative to the rods, multiple segmented protrusions formed on a face of the skirt, multiple cutouts defined in the face of the skirt and alternate relative to the segmented protrusions and slits defined in the face of the skirt and a tire securely mounted on an outer periphery of the hub. Thus the rods from one half are inserted into the indents of the other half and the segmented protrusions from one half are inserted into the cutouts of the other half and the assembly of the wheel is accomplished.

  • Patent number: 6899400
Abstract: A wheel for a motorcycle, bicycle, or other wheeled vehicle includes first and second wheel sections that are bolted or otherwise assembled together over an independently rotatable spinner component. Each wheel section has a hub portion, a rim portion, and a spoke portion such that the two hub portions form a combined hub portion of the motorcycle wheel, the two rim portions form a combined rim portion of the motorcycle wheel, and the two spoke portions form a combined spoke portion of the motorcycle wheel. The two spoke portions define an interior space between them. The spinner component is mounted rotatably on the combined hub portion of the wheel assembly in the interior space between the first and second spoke portions for freewheel rotation about the rotational axis independent of the rest of the wheel.

  • Publication number: 20040070261
Abstract: A wheel frame for a hollow foam wheel includes a hollow foam tire which has two opposing bulged inner rims to form a housing space therebetween, two opposing wheel frames located on two outer sides of the foam tire each having a jutting outer rim. The jutting outer rim has an inner side with spikes located thereon and an inner peripheral surface which has first ridges formed thereon. The housing space holds a plurality of retaining members assembled in an annular manner. Each retaining member has a flange on the inner rim thereof with second ridges formed on the inner peripheral surface to mate alternately the first ridges of the wheel frame. The two wheel frames are screwed towards each other to clamp the foam tire securely between the jutting outer rim and the retaining members. The spikes on the inner side of the wheel frame pierce into the foam tire for anchoring. Thus the hollow foam tire may be coupled and anchored securely and provide an improved elastic and cushion effect.

  • Patent number: 6497459
Abstract: A multi-part vehicle wheel includes a rim spider and a rim which are mutually connected by screwing devices. For connection by way of the screwing devices, the rim spider has ring surfaces which are placed flush on the rim. So that precise positioning of the metal foam core can take place, this metal foam core has core marks or needle cushions. For sealing off the hollow space of the spoke of the rim spider, which is filled with metal foam, a sealing strip or a sealing ring is arranged between the rim and the rim spider and is held in a clamped-in manner when the wheel parts are connected.

  • Patent number: 6428114
Abstract: A wheel, in particular for a bicycle, preferably for a motorcycle, with a hub, a rim, and spokes or a disk extending between the hub and rim. The wheel is vertically divided so as to include two wheel parts, and each of the two wheel parts comprises as integral parts one half of each of the hub, the spokes or the disk, and the rim. The wheel is designed and constructed to provide a simple and cost-favorable production, while ensuring the necessary stability or rigidity. The two wheel parts are made at least largely identical, and joined together exclusively in the region of the hub and rim.
