Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a novel solution for preventing pinch flats and installation flats incurred by an inner tube as a result of the wheel striking an object. Embodiments are directed to an inner tube protector that fits within a tire and provides mechanical protection to the inner tube against tire strikes. Embodiments may include an inner region adapted to support an inner tube installed around a rim of a wheel. Additionally, embodiments may include an outer region adapted for insertion within and against the rim lip of the rim which provide protection to the inner tube responsive to the wheel striking an object. As such, embodiments may be positioned between the rim and inner tube in a manner that dulls an edge of the rim lip and, thereby, provides protection to the inner tube when compressed against the otherwise sharp edges of the rim lip.

Abstract: A connectible wheel rim structure for a bicycle includes a wheel rim body and a plurality of metal connectors. The wheel rim body has a plurality of sub wheel rims. Each sub wheel rim has an assembling groove defined thereon to assemble with a bicycle tire. Each sub wheel rim has an annular portion and a channel defined thereon. Two ends of each metal connector are respectively inserted into the channel of each corresponding sub wheel rim and the channel of adjacent sub wheel rim, so that the sub wheel rims are closely assembled with each other via the metal connectors. Under this arrangement, the structural strength of the wheel rim body is enhanced; hence, the wheel rim body does not detach easily because of the metal connectors, so that a user rides the bicycle stably and safely.

  • Patent number: 8505598
Abstract: The instant invention is a pressure release safety system for a multi-piece wheel rim and tubeless tire combination, teaching designs for automatically relieving/releasing pressure as part of its disassembly. In this invention, fastening elements used to hold together portions of a wheel rim are provided with a blocking device or devices that prevents loosening and/or removal of fastening elements until said blocking device is first moved from a blocking position, where movement of the blocking device from its blocking position directly or indirectly opens or requires the opening of a pressure relief channel or channels—allowing, enabling and effecting depressurization of the sealed pressure vessel. When applied in the context of a tubeless two-piece wheel/tire assembly, the invention advantageously may include a blocking or safety device (typically in the form of a ring) that covers all or a critical portion of the nuts/studs that hold the two piece wheel together.

Abstract: A wheel and tire assembly for recreational vehicles, such as mountainboards, motorized carts and pedaled carts is provided. The tire comprises a tire made of substantially inelastic material that will not stretch under a load. Thus, the tire will flatten under a load to provide a high level of traction on soft and irregular surfaces, as well as on hard and flat surfaces. The tire includes protrusions on its inner diameter surface for securely engaging the wheel. The wheel includes a rim that supports the tire and includes protrusions for engaging the protrusions of the tire in an interdigitating manner. The interdigitating engagement of the protrusions on the tire with the protrusions on the wheel prevents slippage and rotation of the tire relative to the wheel. The wheel also includes support flanges that extend radially inward from the rim in order to protect the tire from damage as the tire deforms under a load.
