Spring Operated Motor Patents (Class 303/9.76)
  • Patent number: 11230274
Abstract: A vehicular integrated brake system has an EBS and an EPB system integrated in the system to simplify a brake control system and reduce costs. An EBS function and an EPB function are incorporated by adding an EPB valve in the EBS valve system, so that the actuation of the EBS valves and the EPB valve can be controlled by a single integrated controller. A separate pneumatic route connecting the EPB is removed to optimize the pneumatic route. Thus, it is possible to simplify the controller and to reduce costs.

  • Patent number: 9067572
Abstract: A brake arrangement of a railway vehicle includes an electrical brake device having an electronic brake controller and having an electro-pneumatic regulator with a pressure sensor. An emergency brake device has a pressure reducer in series with a valve device. A shuttle valve device is also present at a pneumatic output of the electrical pneumatic braking device and a pneumatic output of the emergency brake system and is connected at the inputs thereof. The output of the valve device is connected to a control valve device connected upstream of a brake cylinder. The brake arrangement can be a direct braking arrangement and can be converted in a simple manner to an indirect braking arrangement. The valve device is an electromagnetic emergency stop valve working according to the principle of de-energizing to close, and the pressure sensor of the electro-pneumatic regulator is connected to the output of the shuttle valve device.

  • Patent number: 8504268
Abstract: In a method for applying a parking brake of a vehicle depending on the roadway conditions, at least one electromechanical braking system has a parking brake and an operational brake function. An operational brake force is produced on each wheel to slow the vehicle down to a standstill. A parking brake force is generated on at least two wheels of the vehicle. The parking brake forces have an amount that corresponds to the total of the previous parking brake forces applied to all of the wheels and subsequently the stopping of the vehicle is tesste. When the vehicle is maintained in the stop position, the amount of the parking brake force on the at least two wheels is reduced and simultaneously, the service brake forces that are reduced by a certain amount corresponding to the parking brake forces are built up at least on the other wheels.

  • Patent number: 8342208
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to allow a vehicle to run in the case where an air compressor connected to an input port fails so as to cause air leakage from the location of the failure, by preventing air in a parking brake circuit from leaking from the failure location through a bleed air flow path. In order to achieve the object, a multi-protection valve includes: a communication passage for communicating between an input chamber and a service output port so as to bypass a pressure control valve provided in correspondence with the service output port, the communication passage having a check valve for preventing air from flowing from the service output port into the input chamber and a throttle for restricting the air flow rate; and a bleed air flow path for communicating between the input chamber and the parking output port so as to bypass pressure control valves, the bleed air flow path having a second check valve for preventing air from flowing from the input chamber to the parking output port.

  • Publication number: 20120032501
Abstract: A braking system for a combined tractor-trailer assembly wherein a leading trailer is coupled to a towing tractor and a trailing trailer is coupled to the leading trailer. All of the wheels of the trailers are provided with brakes which may be applied and released in response to the operation of a brake control pedal operated by a driver in the tractor. The brakes also may be applied to the trailing trailer whenever the latter is parked. The brakes of the trailing trailer normally are maintained in applied condition by a spring assisted mechanism when such trailer is parked. Such mechanism normally is disabled by pressurized fluid when the trailer is in service and the pressured fluid is accessible via a valve which simultaneously enables the parking brakes and service brakes simultaneously to be coupled to and uncoupled from the pressure fluid system.

  • Patent number: 6923509
Abstract: A remotely activated electro mechanical device is mounted in the dual chamber brake system of a vehicle or trailer. The device includes a solenoid valve and a receiver decoder which controls the valve in response to a coded signal ideally available only to law enforcement to vent pressure in the emergency chamber of a dual chamber brake system to automatically apply the brakes thereby bringing a moving vehicle to a stop. The device is also responsive to a second, different coded signal, available only to authorized users to vent pressure in the emergency chamber and to lock the brakes by preventing pressurized air from being supplied to the dual chamber brake system of a stopped or parked vehicle. The device is also responsive to coded signals which reverse the above-noted actions.

  • Patent number: 6402261
Abstract: In a theft deterrent security device for trailers and like equipment having a dual chamber brake system that operates with compressed air an electro mechanical device, such as servomotor or a solenoid, is mounted within the interior of the dual chamber brake system housing in which an expanded high spring-rate spring biases and keeps a brake actuator in a locked “brakes on” position when there is no compressed air supplied to the system. The servo motor or solenoid is connected to members which in one position mechanically block movement of the brake actuator to prevent its normal operation even when there is compressed air available to the system and the high spring-rate spring is compressed. In a second position of the servo motor or solenoid the members do not block movement of the brake actuator and thereby allow normal operation of the brakes. The servo motor or solenoid is responsive to coded signals which control its position and which are normally available only to an authorized user.

Anti-compounding is provided by virtue of a bias pressure of approximately twenty to thirty psi between a pressure chamber of a service actuator and an operating chamber of a parking/emergency actuator. Likewise, vehicle roll-back is addressed since the transition from a service application to a park application assures that the service brakes are sufficiently applied until the spring brake becomes operative.
