  • Patent number: 11485434
Abstract: A harvester and a method for harvesting a crop is disclosed. The harvester includes two track drives positioned on opposite ends of a front axle of the harvester, each of the track drives including two main wheels that are arranged successively in the driving direction of the harvester, at least one auxiliary wheel positioned between the main wheels, and at least one track that surrounds the main wheels. The auxiliary wheel can interact with a bottom section of the track so that the forces to be deflected via the particular track drive into ground can be deflected at least proportionately using the auxiliary wheel. To reduce the shearing forces into the ground when the harvester turns, a control unit, depending on the steering angle of the harvester, controls a lifting unit to lift a front main wheel of a particular track drive from its home position to a lifted position.

  • Patent number: 7726749
Abstract: A tread assembly has front and rear main idler wheels supported by a frame. An assembly is provided to permit the front idler wheels to pivot laterally as the cart encounters uneven ground, in order to improve weight distribution across the tread and the idler wheels. The rear idler wheel also has an assembly to permit the rear idler wheel to pivot laterally. An alignment feature is incorporated into the front idler wheel assembly to permit adjustment of the alignment of the front idler wheel relative to the rear idler wheel. A tensioning mechanism is provided at the rear idler wheel to maintain the tread in tension. A bogie wheel structure is pivotally connected to the frame and positioned between the front and rear idler wheels.

  • Patent number: 7597411
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for operating a track tension wheel on a tracked vehicle. The device comprises two operating cylinders, a pivoting cylinder (38, 48) for pivoting a tension wheel arm (10) that carries a tension wheel, and a tensioning cylinder (28, 30) for changing the distance between the center (25) of the tension wheel and the center of rotation (12) of the tension wheel arm. The tensioning cylinder (28, 30) is pivotally connected to a pivoting link arm (36), which link arm is arranged to be stationary in a first phase of a pivoting upward movement of the tension wheel arm (10) from a lowered position and to pivot around its connection to the link arm (36). In a second phase of the upward pivoting movement, a lug (50) on the tension wheel arm (10) is arranged to engage with the link arm (36) to cause the tensioning cylinder (28, 30) to be pivoted around the connection of the link arm (36) to the attachment (18) during a continued upward pivoting movement of the tension wheel arm (10).

  • Publication number: 20090124142
Abstract: An amphibious vehicle capable of high speeds on the water has a buoyant hull with driven tracks on each side of the hull. The tracks are movable between an upper position and a lower position relative to the hull. The tracks propel the vehicle both for land travel and water travel. Water diverter vanes at the aft end of each track divert water being carried forward by the tracks. Water diverter vanes at the forward ends direct water carried on the upper runs in a downward and aft direction. A cavitation plate is located behind each of the tracks while waterborne and below the waterline of the hull. A tiltable transom flap is attached to the transom and extends rearward.

  • Publication number: 20090001809
Abstract: A tension management system for generating tension in an endless track of a tracked work machine. The tension management system comprises a biasing element, an idler wheel, a swing link, an idler arm, and a pivotal bracket linking the biasing element with the idler arm. The biasing element generates force that is translated via the biasing arm to the pivotal bracket. The pivotal bracket provides a mechanical advantage in the translation of the force that enables the force exerted upon the swing link to be greater than the force generated by the biasing element. The idler arm connects the pivotal bracket to the swing link and exerts force on the swing link causing it to pivot. The idler wheel is mounted on the swing link and exerts force, generating tension, in the endless track as the swing link pivots.

  • Patent number: 7296862
Abstract: A track frame or undercarriage is made to support a rubber track on suitable guide rollers. A tensioning roller is provided as one of the guide rollers on the interior of the track and is mounted on a pivoting bracket. The pivoting bracket moves the tensioning roller to a working position for creating tension in the track. An actuator provides a known force on the pivoting bracket to move the tensioning roller to its working position, using a controlled pressure applied to the actuator. Drive sprockets for the track are mounted onto a drive case that is mounted to the frame through pivoting linkages such that the drive case and the drive sprocket can be held in a working position and retracted away from the track. The position of the tensioning roller is maintained within set limits of retractions during use, by providing a stop to limit the amount that the tensioning roller can retract.

  • Patent number: 7252349
Abstract: A track type work machine is provided including a roller frame having a rotatable idler mounted at an end thereof. A gas spring is operable to absorb selected loads on the idler, and is isolated from loads transverse to a reciprocation axis of the gas spring by a recoil system. A method of providing for load absorption from the idler is also provided. The method includes positioning a gas spring between the idler and a roller frame of the work machine, and operably coupling the idler to the gas spring to selectively transmit loads from the idler thereto.

  • Patent number: 5586614
Abstract: A slide rail structure for a snow vehicle includes a main slide rail disposed at the middle of a crawler belt with respect to the width of the crawler belt. A pair of side slide rails are disposed near the opposite side ends, respectively, of the crawler belt. The guide wheels are disposed between the main slide rail and the side slide rails. An appropriate contact load is maintained between the snow vehicle and the snow to thereby enhance the turning ability of the snow vehicle. One or more edges can be provided on a lower surface of the body cover of the snow vehicle. These edges can dig into the snow to compensate for a reduction in the contact force of the affront ski of the snow vehicle with the snow during turning. The front ski of the snow vehicle can be mounted using an elastic, biasing member. This member helps improve timing and responsiveness for turning of the snow vehicle.
