Abstract: A horizontal deflection coil is formed by winding conductive wires. A wire density of the conductive wires in a first portion of the horizontal deflection coil, which is defined in a predetermined angle range centering on a winding angle, and which is set to be &thgr;1 with respect to a horizontal direction as 0° in an electron-gun-side region, &thgr;2 with respect to a horizontal direction as 0° in a middle region, and &thgr;3 with respect to a horizontal direction as 0° in a screen-side region on a cross section perpendicular to a tube axis, is smaller than a wire density of the conductive wires in a portion of the horizontal deflection coil other than the first portion. The winding angles &thgr;1, &thgr;2, and &thgr;3 in the first portion satisfy &thgr;1≧&thgr;2≧&thgr;3.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cathode ray tube comprising means (5) for generating an electron beam (6,7,8), means (51) for deflecting the electron beam, and a coil (14′) for influencing a deflection of the electron beam (6,7,8). The coil (14′) comprises an electrically conductive coil holder (46) and coil windings (47,48) having an electrically conductive outer layer (44). The electrically conductive layer (44) of the coil wires (41) and the coil holder (46) cooperate with each other so as to form a conductive path A between successive coil windings (47,48). Abstract: A deflection yoke having a capability of correcting a lateral inner pincushion distortion with a magnetic field generated by a deflecting coil itself is provided. The deflection yoke includes a saddle-type vertical deflecting coil including a screen side bend portion, a neck side bend portion and a cone portion connecting the screen side bend portion and the neck side bend portion and is installed to a cathode ray tube. When viewing the screen side bend portion of the vertical deflecting coil from a screen side of the cathode ray tube in a direction along the tube axis, a distance between the screen side bend portion and the tube axis is the minimum at a portion close to a diagonal direction of the screen. As a result, the lateral inner pincushion distortion can be corrected with a magnetic field generated by the deflecting coil itself with a simple configuration, without adding any component for correcting the distortion and increasing a deflecting power.

The trajectory correction device functions to over-converge or under-converge a pair of side beams at a peripheral portion of the phosphor screen relative to a center of the phosphor screen.
