  • Patent number: 7061172
Abstract: A flat color cathode ray tube having excellent doming quality is obtained by improving the structure of a flat panel and by using a shadow mask made of AK (aluminum-killed) material. According to the cathode ray tube, an outer surface of a panel used for the cathode ray tube is substantially flat, and an inner surface thereof has a curvature, and a transmittance ratio of ending portion of an effective surface to central portion of the panel is in the range of 0.4 to 0.6, and the radius of diagonal curvature (Rd) of the inner surface of the panel is in the range of 1.29R to 4.35R (R=1.767×diagonal length of effective surface), and a shadow mask is made of AK material. The cathode ray tube embodying the principles of the present invention is very advantageous in that it has a price as low as half the price of the conventional cathode ray tube, yet its panel uses a shadow mask made of AK material which has a doming quality equivalent to that of a shadow mask made of Invar material.

Abstract: A phosphor screen with metal back of the present invention has a degree of adhesion of 30% or more in the ratio of the contact area of a phosphor layer (2) and a metal back layer (3). The deterioration (film burning) of emission brightness in FED can be suppressed and the brightness characteristics can be improved. The film thickness of the metal back layer is set to 50 to 100 nm and the light transmittance thereof is set to 10% or less to provide a highly bright display with excellent reflectivity. The phosphor screen with metal back can be formed by transferring a metal film onto the phosphor layer formed on the internal surface of a translucent substrate by using a transfer film.

Abstract: In a display device, attached to a plate-type chassis (2) is a PDP (1) having a display screen on which videos are displayed and a circuit board (9) on which a circuit driving the PDP (1) is arranged. The circuit board (9) is shielded with respect to the PDP (1) thanks to the chassis (2), and thus does not receive any unwanted radiation noise radiated by the PDP (1). The display device further includes a back cover (6) and a cabinet (7) each having conductivity. The back cover (6) and the cabinet (7) house therein the PDP (1) and the circuit board (9) attached to the chassis (2). The back cover (6) and the cabinet (7) are both electrically insulated from the chassis (2). Therefore, any unwanted radiation noise from the PDP (1) and the circuit on the circuit board (9) is stopped leaking to the outside.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a cathode ray tube (CRT) having a color filter luminescent screen assembly is disclosed. The luminescent screen assembly is formed on an interior surface of a faceplate panel of the CRT tube. The luminescent screen assembly includes a patterned light-absorbing matrix that defines a plurality of sets of fields corresponding to one of a blue region, a red region and a green region. A color filter is formed in one of the plurality of sets of fields. The color filter is formed by applying a photosensitive material layer on the inner surface of the faceplate panel and exposing one of the sets of fields corresponding to the blue region, the red region or the green region, to harden the photosensitive material in such region. A pigment layer, having a color that corresponds to the color of the region of hardened photosensitive material, is then applied over the exposed photosensitive material layer.
