  • Patent number: 11950342
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for the automated detection of a particular type of lighting fixture, where a given type may refer to a particular make and/or model of the lighting fixture, bulb quantity, bulb technology, power output rating, etc. The detection may be based on measured dimming curves of the lighting fixture, which may indicate actual power consumption at varying brightness levels of the lighting fixture. One or more power consumption models may be selected, generated, and/or refined based on the measured dimming curves, and applied to other lighting fixtures sharing similar attributes and/or under similar conditions. Based on such models, a given lighting fixture may be able to automatically detect anomalous behavior (e.g., excessive power consumption or less power consumption compared to expected power consumption) and automatically take remedial actions.

  • Patent number: 10757793
Abstract: Techniques are described for a lighting system in which light sources are controllable using signals sent over a wireless mesh network. During a commissioning process, a user interface (UI) may present a representation of nodes (e.g., light sources, sensors, controllers, etc.) that are broadcasting a wireless advertising signal. In response to a selection of a particular node, a wireless message may be sent to instruct the selected node to provide a visual indication of its presence, such as a flashing light. The visual indication may enable a user to discern the physical location of the node, such that each node may be added to the mesh network and, in some instances, to a group of nodes. The UI may also enable the definition of scenes, where each scene describes the brightness level or other operating characteristics of particular light source(s) and/or group(s) of light sources when the scene is active.

  • Patent number: 9709625
Abstract: A method for determining power consumption of a power domain within an integrated circuit is presented. In a first step, a local power supply impedance profile (Z(f)) of this power domain is determined. Subsequently, a local time-resolved power supply voltage (U(t)) is measured while a well-defined periodic activity is executed in power domain. A set of time-domain measured voltage data (U(t)) is thus accumulated and transformed into the frequency domain to yield a voltage spectrum (U(f)). A current spectrum I(t) is calculated from this voltage profile (U(f)) by using the power supply impedance profile Z(f) of this power domain as I(t)=Ff?1{U(f)/Z(f)}. Finally, a time-resolved power consumption spectrum P(t) is determined from measured voltage spectrum U(t)) and calculated current spectrum (I(t)). This power consumption (P(t)) may be compared with a reference (Pref(t)) to verify whether power consumption within power domain matches expectations.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a system and a method for controlling lighting. In the lighting control system, one or more lighting devices are installed in a separate area within a building and a remote controller generates a scheduling data by setting lighting scenes at each time and controls the lighting of the corresponding lighting device via a short range wireless communication. In addition, the remote controller transmits the scheduling data to a remote server through a gateway and when the remote controller is not normally operated, the remote server controls the lighting device according to the scheduling data through the gateway.

Abstract: An illumination system can provide at least a first state and a second state of a luminaire equipped with at least one lighting subsystem. In the first state, the luminous intensity of the lighting subsystem is controlled based on the occurrence of a detected solar event or the occurrence of an expected solar event. In the second state, the luminous intensity of the lighting subsystem forms a visually distinct pattern based on the detection of atmospheric electrical activity exceeding a defined threshold by an electrical activity sensor disposed within the luminaire. The visually distinctive luminous output can alert persons within line of sight of the luminaire of the proximity of threatening atmospheric electrical activity.

Abstract: A multi-sensor lighting control system includes at least two light sensors. Each sensor gathers light from different sources, by comparing and contrasting the output signals from the two sensors, the controller can automate many lighting control and commissioning processes leading to easier, simpler installations and maintenance and happier customers, and removing the need for special tools. Applying automated closed loop lamp warm-up techniques, the daylight ratio and the maximum electric light contribution can be learned automatically by the system. A multi-sensor lighting control system may also provide intermediate zones of lighting control between adjacent task areas with different lighting requirements.

  • Patent number: 8742673
Abstract: A usage time correcting engine, and corresponding method, system, apparatus, and computer product are provided. Over a period of time that an LED lighting fixture is being used to provide light, a usage time correcting engine indirectly measures an internal temperature of a component of the fixture. The indirect measurement is based on a measured external temperature of the component and power output supplied to or provided by the component. The usage time correcting engine determines a multiplier as a function of the indirectly measured internal temperature. The usage time correcting engine multiplies the period of time by the multiplier to provide a corrected measurement of usage of the component. In some examples, the usage time correcting engine determines a remaining lifetime of the LED lighting fixture from the corrected measurement and then reports the remaining lifetime to a user by way of a log, flashing light or other notification/indication.
