  • Patent number: 11305809
Abstract: A motor control device controls driving of a motor, which outputs torque to a rack shaft as a load by rotation of a shaft fixed to a rotor. The motor control device has a rotation stress check unit for determining a rotation stress indicating a rotation stress, which is applied inversely from the load to a protection target member such as a shaft, bearing and oil seal related to the rotation of the shaft or torque transmission to the load. The rotation stress check unit determines the rotation stress is excessive based on that an absolute value of a rotation evaluation value exceeds a stress threshold value. The stress threshold value is set to be larger than an absolute value of an upper limit value realized in normal drive control.

Electric motors require a considerably higher current immediately after they have been switched on and during the running-up phase because of the inductance of the motor windings. In order to increase the control sensitivity of the controller for the normal operation, the control range of a digital controller is switched over into a higher current range for the running-up phase. For the normal operation of the motor, the control range of the controller is switched back again into a lower current range. As a result, the control sensitivity of the controller is completely available for the normal operation of the motor.

Abstract: A method for stopping the backspinning of a submersible pump motor prior to restarting the motor. A control circuit is provided which rectifies A.C. control voltage and applies the resulting D.C. voltage to an induction motor. This sets up a stationary magnetic field in the stator of the motor which creates a braking effect on the rotor. By braking the backspinning to a stop or to a speed which will not harm the motor if restarted while still backspinning, the motor can be restarted without having to wait until the downward flow of fluid causing the backspinning stops.

Abstract: An abnormal state detecting apparatus of a machine tool having a servomotor. The apparatus is provided with a device for detecting an abnormal acceleration and an abnormal torque of the servomotor and a device for detecting an abnormal operation state of the servomotor from the directions of the detected acceleration and torque. When the torque, acceleration and operation state are all abnormal, the machine tool is judged to be in an abnormal state and the servomotor is controlled, thereby protecting the machine tool from an impact in an abnormal operation state.

  • Patent number: 5091680
Abstract: A device for braking a rotating magnetic disk in a magnetic storage system senses a back EMF generated by a drive spindle motor. By electrically shorting the coils in the drive spindle motor the rotation of the magnetic disk is stopped. The back EMF is compared with a reference voltage. The reference voltage is selected so that the rate of rotation of the magnetic disk is large enough that a magnetic head "flies" over the surface of the disk, but small enough so that surge currents in the drive spindle motor will not damage the motor coils. Field effect transistors are used to electrically short the coils. A holding capacitor holds a voltage on the gates of the FETs upon loss of power to the magnetic storage system. A reset circuit draws charge from the holding capacitor upon power-up of the storage system.

Abstract: Automatic guided vehicles are commonly used in industrial material handling operations. Such vehicles must be accurately docked at predetermined stop locations without the guidance or assistance of human operators. The subject apparatus is used in conjunction with a vehicle having a vehicle drive circuit for controllably propelling the vehicle at a velocity responsive to a velocity command signal. At least one ground engaging wheel is equipped with a vehicle brake for controllably stopping the vehicle in response to a brake actuation signal. A position determining element produces a controlled stop signal in response to the vehicle being positioned a predetermined distance from the desired stop location, and an absolute stop signal in response to the vehicle being positioned at the desired stop location.

  • Patent number: 4267914
Abstract: An impending kickback condition is the operation of a power tool or machine tool system is sensed and used to control or eliminate the kickback. The ability to sense an impending kickback condition can be used in all categories of power driven tools. The change in force applied to the power driven tool or other implement is monitored by measuring the rate of change of speed of the tool or implement, and if the speed is decreasing, the rate of change of speed is compared with a threshold value which may be either preset or variable. If this threshold value is exceeded, an output control signal is generated which inhibits the coupling of power to the tool or other implement and/or applies a brake to stop the tool or implement. In order for power to once again be coupled from the motive power source to the shaft, the start switch must be opened and then reclosed or some other signal provided by the operator or another predetermined condition must be met.
