Abstract: A motor-driven appliance of one aspect of the present disclosure includes a motor and a controller. The controller includes a physical quantity detector, a variation deriving portion, a loaded condition detector, and driving output portion. The physical quantity detector detects a physical quantity related to an operating state of the motor. The variation deriving portion derives a variation in the physical quantity based upon the physical quantity detected by the physical quantity detector. The loaded condition detector detects that the motor is under a loaded condition in which the motor is applied with a load based upon the variation derived by the variation deriving portion. The driving output portion generates the driving output corresponding to whether the loaded condition is detected by the loaded condition detector.

  • Patent number: 7535191
Abstract: A power window device that suppresses heating in a motor used to lower and raise a window glass. For each door of a vehicle, the power window device includes an ECU that controls a motor in accordance with the operation of a switch to raise the window glass. A pulse sensor is arranged in the vicinity of the motor to detect the rotation speed of the motor and generate a detection signal. Based on the pulse signal of the pulse sensor, the ECU determines whether the window glass has reached a fully open or fully closed position. When it is determined that the motor has become locked or that the window glass has reached the fully open or fully closed position, the ECU deactivates the motor until predetermined activation conditions are satisfied.

  • Patent number: 6515441
Abstract: An object detection system includes a sensor in communication with a controller which identifies contact with the sensor. In a preferred embodiment the sensor is a piezo film which generates a signal when an object applies a predetermined force to the edge of the moveable glass member. This signal is identifiable by the controller in communication with the piezo film. Another embodiment of the sensor provides a pair of substantially parallel segments of conductive material applied along the edge of the window. When an object is in contact with both segments of conductive material an electrical signal is conducted and identified by the controller. When the controller determines an object is in contact with the sensor and therefore the moveable glass member, the controller halts or reverses the movement of the moveable glass member to prevent trapping the object between the closing moveable glass member and the frame.

  • Patent number: 5774625
Abstract: The invention relates to an X-ray apparatus, comprising a rotary-anode X-ray tube, a device for monitoring the rotational speed of a rotary-anode drive motor of the X-ray tube, a sensor circuit for determining an angle signal which is dependent on the phase angle between a reference voltage and a current associated with the motor, a comparator circuit for detecting the angle signal variation which serves as a criterion for the rotational speed of the motor, and also comprising a frequency changer. Thanks to the fact that there is provided a device for forming a brief keying signal so as to trigger a reduction of the frequency of the rotary-anode drive motor, the device is also suitable for induction motors in which only a small phase angle variation is measured between standstill and the operating rotational speed.

  • Patent number: 5712551
Abstract: A brushless DC motor compressor starting circuit protecting apparatus for a refrigerator and a method thereof, for controlling excessive current flowing through a coil of a brushless DC motor which is caused by a pressure load of the refrigerator when a compressor starts, before the compressor repeats turning on and off according to a temperature cycle, are provided with a resistor mounted on a circuit board, and a relay for connecting the resistor in series with a motor coil, so that the resistor is connected in series with the coil when a large current flows at an initial driving. Here, a power voltage of a motor driver is divided by a dividing means and an initial-rotation state of the motor is detected by the divided voltage. Therefore, the destruction of a switching device and the demagnetization of a permanent magnet can be prevented and a stable starting can be achieved by restraining the excessive current flowing in the motor coil at the compressor starting.

  • Patent number: 4468597
Abstract: The power supply to an electric actuating motor is regulated by reducing the differences between current intensity or voltage and a reference value. Two transducers measure the current intensity and the voltage. A selection stage chooses the higher of the two values and a comparison stage delivers a difference signal with respect to the reference value established by a stage of the potentiometer type. A regulator produces an action which is compared within a comparator with a sawtooth signal emitted by an oscillator. Depending on the sign of the comparison, a control stage supplies the motor during a variable fraction of the period of the oscillations.

  • Patent number: 4249117
Abstract: An impending kickback condition in the operation of a power tool or machine tool system is sensed and used to control or eliminate the kickback. The ability to sense an impending kickback condition can be used in all categories of power driven tools. The change in force applied to the power driven tool or other implement is monitored with a microcomputer by measuring the rate of change of current. If the current is increasing, the microcomputer compares the rate of change of current with a threshold value which may be either preset or computed by the microcomputer. If this threshold value is exceeded, an output control signal is generated by the microcomputer which inhibits the coupling of power to the tool or other implement and/or applies a brake to stop the tool or implement. In order for power to once again be coupled to the tool or implement, the start switch must be opened and then reclosed or some other signal provided by the operator or another predetermined condition must be fulfilled.
