Sliding Leg Patents (Class 33/30.6)
  • Patent number: 7461459
Abstract: A drawing instrument includes a turning assembly including a handle, a post having an end center, a bevel gear rotatable about the post, and a lower extending socket; a gear assembly meshed with the bevel gear and including a wheel; a link assembly including a first link having an upper end pivotably secured to the wheel, and a second link pivotably secured to a lower end of the first link and having a lower portion received in the socket; and a drawing assembly including an arm including a scale and a groove, a wheeled support secured to the arm, a third link pivotably secured to the second link and the groove, a slider pivotably secured to the third link and adapted to slide in the groove, and a pen mounting bed adjustably fastened at the groove. Rotating the handle will cause the pen mounting bed to draw an ellipse.

  • Patent number: 7010860
Abstract: A cutting device is operable with one hand for cutting a circle or an elliptical shape in a sheet of material. In a first embodiment for cutting elliptical shapes, the cutting device includes a first member for placement on the sheet material and a second member for simultaneous pivotal and translatable movement with respect to the base plate. The first member has a first pivot point that is movable along a first axis, while the second member has a second pivot point that is movable along a second axis substantially perpendicular to the first axis. The first and second members are operably connected to each other at the first and second pivot points. A knob is connected to one of the pivot points and is sized to be grasped by one hand and rotated. Rotation of the knob about the one pivot point causes the second member to rotate and slide in an elliptical pattern with respect to the base plate.

  • Patent number: 6374503
Abstract: An apparatus for rendering ovals of adjustable sizes and ellipticity upon various materials. An oval cutter comprises a clickerplate for adjusting the ellipticity of ovals in a single movement. The clickerplate can be rotated about a base using a knob mounted on the clickerplate. One embodiment of this invention comprises a storage compartment in the knob which can hold, for example, extra blades. A further embodiment of this invention comprises an arm that translates through the clickerplate and a swivel plate used for setting the overall size of the oval by locking the arm at a set length. In yet a further embodiment of this invention, ovals can be rendered in either a clockwise or a counterclockwise direction and an arrow can indicate the direction in which the apparatus is set to render ovals.

  • Patent number: 6286216
Abstract: A hand tool for forming circular cutouts of sheet material secures the material so that no generally central penetration in the form of a pilot hole or the like, is required. The resulting cutout is useful in the construction of an article assembled from a series of such blanks or cutouts, such as a quilt assembled from a large number of blanks with the blanks being sewn together at points of mutual contact about their circumferences. The tool comprises a relatively stationary base hub with a shaft extending upwardly therefrom, and a hand pressure knob mounted on the shaft opposite the base hub. A rotary disc with a radial channel having a cutting arm and rotary cutting blade therein, is sandwiched between the base hub and pressure knob. The tool is placed upon the sheet material and pressure is applied to the pressure knob, with the cutting arm and rotary disc being rotated about the hub and knob to drive the cutting blade in a circular path about the hub.
