  • Patent number: 10906451
Abstract: The present invention relates to a headlamp's aiming apparatus, in which the headlamp's optical axis is adjustable with respect to a vehicle body, the aiming apparatus that includes a stationary member secured to a portion of the headlamp; a tiltable member attached to the stationary member via one or more adjustment shafts; and a fixed pivot shaft to allow pivotal connection with the headlamp's tiltable member. Adjustment shafts include a ball portion at a forward end portion, a drive shaft portion at a rear end portion and a flexible portion between the ball and drive shaft portions. The pivot shaft in conjunction with the adjustment shafts enable the tiltable member to tilt about a horizontal axis and a vertical axis of the headlamp to adjust the headlamp's optical axis, and the flexible portion is adapted to deflect in multiple directions to enhance accessible degrees of freedom during the headlamp's optical axis adjustments.

  • Patent number: 9909329
Abstract: Featured are devices and methods for positioning an anchoring device (e.g., bolt, stud) when cast in place in concrete so as to leave the anchoring device plumb. Such methods include securing one end of an anchor plumbing tool having a leveling mechanism to the anchoring device and manipulating another portion of the plumbing tool until the leveling mechanism indicates that the anchoring mechanism is plumb. Such methods further include positioning the anchoring device in cast in place concrete while the concrete is in its fluid state before set up occurs so as to leave the anchoring device in a vertical or perpendicular line relative to gravity. Such a plumbing tool includes a distal end portion that removably couples to an end of the anchoring device, the leveling mechanism and an upper portion that is usable to manipulate the anchoring device.

  • Patent number: 8747244
Abstract: A putt break visualization instrument useful for improving putting includes an elongated object such as a crossbar that extends from the shaft of a putter and is normal thereto. The golfer begins by addressing the golf ball. The golfer then holds the putter above the green by the handle in the manner of a plumb line so that the shaft of the putter is vertically oriented and the crossbar is horizontally oriented. The golfer then aligns the shaft with the uphill edge of the golf ball and moves the shaft up or down along the vertical so that the crossbar extends in proximity to the cup. The golfer may use a slider on the crossbar to mark the cup. The golfer may now evaluate how well he or she has addressed the golf ball, and either repeat the process if improvement is needed or make the putt.

  • Publication number: 20130333233
Abstract: An apparatus for fastening one or multiple objects to a wall or other surface includes first and second frame members, movable relative to one another along an axis. First and second engagement members extend from the first and second frame members, respectively, the engagement members being usable to engage fastening regions of one or more objects to be secured, then subsequently to provide visible markings to the surface. One or more angular measurement devices engaged with one or both the frame members can be used to record the angular relationship between fastening regions, while the position of the frame members relative to one another can be used to record the linear distance between fastening regions. The markings provided to the mounting surface thereby have the same linear and angular relationship as the fastening regions due to the angular and linear position of the frame members.

  • Patent number: 6732441
Abstract: A leveling device for a construction material surface surrounding a drainpipe presents an elongated beam having a central seat therein for reception of the end of a drainpipe therein. Upon a seating of the drainpipe, a pair of opposed inclined surfaces contact the construction material surrounding the drainpipe. Rotation of the beam about the drainpipe presents a smoothed, inclined surface about the drainpipe with the excess poured material being collected in pockets in a sidewall of the device. The depth of the inclined surfaces below the drainpipe top can be regulated. Bubble levels assure a proper orientation of the beam during rotation.

  • Patent number: 6711827
Abstract: A conduit bending guide, where in a preferred embodiment, the guide has a base a member with a first base section and a second base section with means for repositioning of the two base sections with respect to each other, a fastening member for securing of the guide to a conduit, a suspension mount housing an angle indicator, and a bend angle indicator. The angle indicator could have various degrees of freedom of rotation in space as it is supported by a suspension means of the suspension mount. The guide allows making of consecutive co-planar bends in a conduit by observation of the reading on the angle indicator. By observing the angle indicator, it is also possible to make consecutive out-of-plane bends with a desired angle of deviation from the plane established by any one bend in the conduit. The degree of a bend along the longitudinal axis of the conduit is measured by the bend angle indicator or by realignment of the angle indicator.

Abstract: The present invention provides a level including an elongated level body defining an exterior workpiece contacting surface thereon. A hanger structure is movably connected to the level body so as to be capable of being moved between a retracted position and a deployed position. The hanger structure includes a contacting surface thereon that, when the hanger structure is in the deployed position, is disposed outwardly from the level body to be engageable with a support surface and thereby enable the level to be hung.

  • Patent number: 6665962
Abstract: A level is adapted for attachment to an upper surface of a shoe in such a manner that the level is visible to a wearer of the shoe. The level is calibrated by using a known level surface to stand upon and then adjusting the level so that it reads level when standing on the known level surface. The user then walks intermediate a first and second location, pausing as desired, and noting the reading that is provided by the level. Accordingly, a method of determining the grade at any given location is provided. If the user combines two or more readings that are taken intermediate the first and the second location, an average grade intermediate the first and the second location is provided. A preferred bubble level and method of adjusting the level to the shoe and of detaching it therefrom is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6568095
Abstract: A magnetic torpedo level is adapted for removable magnetic attachment to pipes, EMT (electrical metal tubing), and other ferrometallic cylindrical objects, for measuring their level or slope. The present level includes a series of laterally placed magnets across its base edge, with a pair of ferrometallic rails capturing the magnets therebetween. Ceramic magnets are preferred for their power and longevity, but other magnets may be used as desired. The rails depend beyond the magnets, and define a channel for seating securely upon a cylindrical surface. At least one of the level vials of the present level is may be adjustably repositioned within its vial frame, in one of a series of pairs of vial passages, to adjust the angle of the vial to a specific predetermined angle relative to the level body as desired.
