At Least One Pivot Is Sliding Patents (Class 33/460)
  • Patent number: 9370387
Abstract: A bone plate system for reshaping a bone plate to conform to contours of bone surfaces. The system comprises a bone plate, a pair of spaced-apart guides removably attached to the bone plate, and a bending tool. The bending tool comprises a handle and a head attached to a distal end of the handle. The head defines a cavity sized and shaped to engage the pair of spaced-apart guides. The bone plate system is configured to transfer a leverage force applied by a user to the bending tool while the cavity of the head is fitted over the pair of spaced-apart guides to a regionalized bending moment to the bone plate through the pair of spaced-apart guides to reshape the bone plate.

  • Patent number: 6820345
Abstract: A combination carpenter square and bevel/sliding bevel having three triangle-shaped adjoining legs, with an articulating joint between the hypotenuse leg and each adjoining leg. The other two non-hypotenuse legs are capable of forming a substantially 90 degree angle between the two non-hypotenuse legs to function as a carpenter's square. At least one of the articulating joints at the hypotenuse leg is capable of tightening and loosening. The hypotenuse leg also consists of a slot positioned longitudinally of the hypotenuse leg. The tightening and loosening articulated joint joins the hypotenuse leg with an adjacent non-hypotenuse leg through the slot, which allows the adjacent non-hypotenuse leg movement about the joint relative to the hypotenuse leg to function as a bevel. The articulated joints allow the combination square and bevel/sliding bevel to be folded into a compact shape.

Abstract: A combination carpenter square and bevel/sliding bevel having three triangle-shaped adjoining legs, with an articulating joint between the hypotenuse leg and each adjoining leg. The other two non-hypotenuse legs are capable of being latched or detached by a latching joint that, when latched, forms a substantially 90 degree angle between the two non-hypotenuse legs to function as a carpenter's square. One of the articulating joints at the hypotenuse leg is capable of tightening and loosening. The hypotenuse leg also consists of a slot positioned longitudinally of the hypotenuse leg. • Patent number: 5974677
Abstract: The layout instrument or tool of this invention includes a pair of members arranged together to form an "L" at a right angle. The unique feature of this arrangement is that the two opposing ends of the "L" are also affixed to another member changing the shape from an "L" to the shape of a 3-4-5 triangle. All members of the instrument are permanently attached, therefore, misalignment is avoided and accuracy is assured and maintained. The two members are configured to slide with respect to one another at the pivot point of the "L" and simply pivot at their opposite ends about their pivot points connecting the third member and creating an enclosed triangle. A spring loaded rivet mounted in one of "L" members slides in a skewed slot in the adjacent member to open the triangle from a closed position where the three sides or members of the triangle are substantially parallel to one another.
