Printing Type Or Plate Patents (Class 33/617)
  • Patent number: 7127993
Abstract: The invention relates to a positioning apparatus for positioning flexible printing plates on printing cylinders, wherein the printing plates are provided with at least one mark functioning as reference, wherein the apparatus comprises: a support device for a printing cylinder; at least one camera which is adapted to record the image of the at least one mark of the printing plate positioned on the printing cylinder; and a monitor for enlarged display of the image recorded by the at least one camera, wherein the positioning apparatus is provided with a registering device for registering the image recorded by the camera. Using such a registering device it is possible to establish that the marks are located at the correct position. By making a copy of the data thus inputted into the register, evidence can be provided that the flexible printing plate is placed in the correct manner.

  • Patent number: 6662725
Abstract: A printing plate is held at one point thereof by a holding portion provided at a surface plate. When pushed by a pushing portion, the printing plate is only rotationally displaced. Thus, an angular error is substantially eliminated and displacement of the printing plate is small. Then, the pushing portion positions the printing plate in a direction perpendicular to a direction in which the surface plate can be moved. Then, movement of the surface plate positions the printing plate in the direction in which the surface plate can be moved.

  • Patent number: 5718057
Abstract: A register draw-in device for sheet printing and embossing machines has two front or leading edge stops and a side stop, and position sensors (S1, S2, S3) for detecting print marks (P1, P2, P3) of a sheet (5). Two detectors (D1, D2) associated with the front stops (A1, A2) detect the sheet leading edge. The front stops are adjustable by control elements (M1, M2) until front print marks (P1, P2) on the sheet are detected by sensors (S1, S2). A control element (M3) then adjusts the side stop (A3) until a side print mark (P3) is detected by another sensor (S3). A system control (11) controls this register correction with the position sensors (S1, S2, S3), the detectors (D1, D2) and the control elements (M1, M2, M3). This accomplishes reliable automatic register correction for each individual sheet and therefore maximum print quality.

  • Patent number: 5648189
Abstract: A pin registration bar aligning an image film to a screen mesh of a screen printing frame. The pin registration bar has a bar and a plate, The bar has an upper surface, a lower surface, and a pair of side surfaces. The plate has a pair of generally parallel surfaces. A portion of one of the parallel surfaces engages the upper surface of the bar. The plate is mounted to the upper surface of the bar. The plate projects outward over one of the side surfaces. The pin registration bar has a pair of sets of pins. The first set of pins projects upward from the other parallel surface of the plate for aligning with holes in the image film. The second set of pins projects downward from the one of the parallel surfaces of the plate for aligning with openings carried by the screen printing frame.

  • Patent number: 5479722
Abstract: Apparatus for providing a movable upright registration pin extending above a horizontal work surface for locating workpieces on the tooling plate of a computer controlled drilling machine. A straight edge member, disposed in a channel in the surface of the tooling plate, provides two vertical reference surfaces which are precisely located to define a line of position for the registration pin. The registration pin is maintained upright in a carrier that is slidably disposed in a channel in the straight edge member between the two reference surfaces. The rotation of a cam bar disposed adjacent the carrier applies force to the carrier which causes the registration pin to bear against the two vertical reference surfaces to precisely and securely locate the pin on the line of position. The registration pin may be pushed by the spindle of the drilling machine along the line of position and then locked in the registration position under the automatic control of the drilling machine.

  • Patent number: 5226366
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for registration of screens used in ink transfer processes for the printing of patterns on substrates such as clothing and other articles. The apparatus includes a platen surface and registration members that are mounted for movement toward and away from opposite sides of the platen. A pair of the registration members are coupled so that they move in mirror image in relation to a fixed point on the platen. When the screen frame is positioned on the platen, the registration members are activated to move inwardly toward the fixed point on the platen to center the screen in relation to the fixed point. Artwork is applied to the screen in alignment with underlying indicia provided on the platen and the screen is then processed to form a stencil in the screen.

  • Patent number: 5097763
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for a printing press, with means being provided in the press for correcting any out-of-register position of a printing plate, so as to release, after the printing plate has been clamped onto the plate cylinder, initially the tension of a rear tensioning strip, whereupon a forward tensioning strip is canted by a desired degree. Then, rear stops are moved back and the rear tensioning strip is tensioned by way of spring force. The described steps are repeated if required. Means are also proposed to noticeably reduce the sliding friction between the plate cylinder and the printing plate.
