  • Patent number: 6725559
Abstract: The tool for locating a center mark for embroidery on articles such as garments includes a planar body having orthogonally-related legs with respective exterior and interior edges. Index markings are provided on the legs along the linear edges. The index markings include indicia identifying a plurality of corresponding preestablished garment sizes along the linear extending edges, respectively. By aligning common selected sizes along the edges with the vertical centerline of a folded garment and a shoulder portion of the garment, respectively, the location of the embroiderer's center mark on the garment is identified at the intersection of the linear edges. The interior edges of the tool may also used to form marking lines where conventional hoop grids are not available.

  • Patent number: 6595836
Abstract: A calibration device for a pad conditioner head of a CMP machine includes a lower first horizontal member defining an arcuate reference surface having a shape complementary to that of the outer peripheral edge of the platen of the machine, an upper second horizontal member spaced vertically from the first member and having a reference mark thereon lying in the projected plane of the reference surface, and a connecting member interconnecting the first member and second member. When the reference surface of the first horizontal member of the calibration device is be butted against the outer peripheral edge of the platen adjacent the head of the pad conditioner, the location of the outermost portion of the head of the pad conditioner relative to the reference mark is readily observable. Thus, the extent to which the outermost portion of the head of the pad conditioner is vertically aligned relative to the outer peripheral edge of the platen can be easily and accurately determined.

Abstract: A pipe angle measuring tool and pipe angle marking tool are defined. A template is also defined which is a flexible substrate, such as paperboard, on which images of the tools are printed. A user may create the tools by cutting them out of the paperboard with ordinary scissors or by separating lines of weakness provided in the substrate. The tools are useful in measuring an angle between two pipes and marking the angle on a part of a selectable angle pipe elbow. The template is inexpensive to produce and can, therefore, be provided to purchasers of selectable angle pipe elbows at little or no charge to the purchaser.

Abstract: A molded limit gauge for measuring workpiece thicknesses. The limit gauge includes a body having one or more elongate ridges extending longitudinally therealong. Each ridge has a plurality of notches extending laterally through its upper portion. Each notch has a unique longitudinal dimension that is uniform. In a first preferred embodiment of the invention, the bottom surface of each notch and the land between each notch is horizontally flat. In a second preferred embodiment, each of these surfaces has a configuration of a laterally convex curve. The limit gauge body is configured such that it can be mounted atop a planing machine. So mounted, it can function as a structural top of the planing machine. Measurement of a board thickness is accomplished by attempting to slide the board through notches that appear to match its thickness. A range of board thickness is defined between the indicated sizes of two adjacent notches that respectively allow and do not allow passage of the board through.

Abstract: An attachment to a standard measuring rule includes a body securely supporting the measuring rule. Within the body a vernier is provided. The vernier divides twenty-four one-eighth inch divisions into twenty-five equal parts, enabling vernier measurements in units of five-thousandths of an inch. A second vernier with marks spaced by one thousandth of a unit less than said measuring rule enables resolution to thousandth units. The results of the first and second verniers can be summed to yield non-interpolated resolution in thousandths of an inch from a fractional rule. Replacement rules and verniers further enable the measuring instrument to alternatively measure tolerance limits, providing the measuring instrument the adaptability to be converted readily into an easy to read quality control instrument.

  • Patent number: 6415525
Abstract: A strip of material with at least one start marker and a plurality of rows of object markers designating body parts to be sized, directional markers designating orientation of the strip, size markers and size indicia. The size markers demarcate subranges of body part measurements and are arranged relative to the start marker. Size indicia are arranged between the size markers and designate and are correlated to garment sizes. Stretch characteristics of the garment being sized are accounted for by the use of adjusted size marker positions, a stretch material, or a compression/elasticity correlation graph. A method of sizing compression garments includes the steps of wrapping the measuring article generally around a body part, overlapping the measuring article with itself, reading the garment size indicia from the measuring article, and entering the garment size indicia in a garment order system.
