With Armature Positioning Or Adjusting Patents (Class 335/144)
  • Patent number: 9425013
Abstract: An overcurrent tripping device of an electrical switch for interrupting a current flow in an electrical circuit in the event of the occurrence of an overload or a short circuit is disclosed. In an embodiment, the overcurrent tripping device includes a thermal tripping device and a magnetic tripping device. A magnetic tripping device is disclosed which, in an embodiment, includes at least one yoke element for generating a magnetic field, an armature element responding to the magnetic field, and a spring element. The armature element is arranged on an armature carrier element, separated from the yoke element, by way of a first armature element end and is mounted pivotably about an armature element rotation axis. In addition, an electrical switch including an overcurrent tripping device, and a method for calibrating magnetic tripping of a magnetic tripping device of an electrical switch, are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7746202
Abstract: The invention relates to a magnetic actuating device containing a reference element and an adjusting element which is movably disposed between first and second end positions with respect to the reference element. The reference and/or adjusting elements contain a magnetizable material. A drive coil is provided for generating a magnetic field that moves the adjusting element from the first to the second end position. A mechanical clamping device is provided for producing mechanical forces that move the adjusting element from the second to the first end position. A fixing device is provided with a permanent magnet for generating a holding force fixing the adjusting element in the second end position with respect to the reference element. The fixing device contains a fixing unit separated from the adjusting element and provided with the permanent magnet.

  • Patent number: 7714691
Abstract: A lockable MEMS switching architecture provided having a clutch assembly, a switching member, and an actuator. The clutch assembly has one or more engagement features located in proximity to the switching member—particularly one or more receiving features located upon the switching member. The clutch assembly is actuated to disengage the engagement features from the receiving features. The switching member is actuated to move in relation to the clutch assembly. Once the switching member is in a desired position, the clutch assembly is de-actuated, causing the engagement features to re-engage with the switching member, thereby restricting its further movement.

  • Patent number: 6816055
Abstract: An adjusting device is for a thermal trip element of a switchgear. It includes a bimetallic element that is stationarily fixed on a bimetallic support. The free end of the bimetallic element is spaced apart form a trip lever and increasingly impinges the same in the direction of release was a result of the thermal deformation, the distance being adjustable by bending the bimetallic support. The adjusting device is especially suitable for circuit breakers or the like.

  • Patent number: 6005459
Abstract: A switching device providing highly-reliable, frictionless, adjustment-free operation is described. Comprised of a comparatively small number of moving parts, the various aspects of the invention offer compact, cost-effective, reliable alternatives to their complex electromagnetic and costly solid-state counterparts. The main parts of the invention rely upon the principles of magnetic attraction and repulsion for the switching of a plurality of electrical contacts contained within the switching device. The flexibility inherent in the design of the invention permits the switching device to be configured in a variety of aspects, including the failsafe and latching designs described herein.
