Reversible Or Oscillatable Patents (Class 335/69)
  • Patent number: 9272237
Abstract: An extraction system is designed for metal working and other applications. The system may include a blower that delivers a positive pressure airflow to a hood that creates an air region for removal of airborne components from a work area. The blower is driven by a three-phase motor in a portable base unit that may be plugged into a source of three-phase power. A rotational direction reversing switch is provided between the motor and a three-phase plug to permit reversal of the rotational direction of the motor when the motor is determined not to rotation in the intended direction when the plug is connected to a receptacle. The switch may be manual or automatic.

Abstract: A drive system is disclosed for operating an electric device. The drive system includes an electric motor having a permanent magnet rotor connectable to the electric device for controlling the operation of it by a limited-angle rotation, the electric motor further including a stator winding. The drive system includes a drive circuit connected to the stator winding. The permanent magnet rotor can be arranged to be aligned to a magnetic field created by the stator winding when supplied with current from the drive circuit, so that a maximum torque can be applied to the rotor and thereby to the movable part within an interval of ±25 degrees around a middle position between two end positions of the limited-angle rotation of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 6031347
Abstract: A motor operator is configured to provide local and remote operation of a power line phase switch. The motor operator has its components individually enclosed in a component enclosure and further enclosed in a main enclosure, allowing isolation and protection of the components from the environment and operators. A gear box includes a worm gear reducer submersed in oil providing a no maintenance gear train that makes continuous braking unnecessary by virtue of the inherently self-locking nature of the worm gear. The motor operator also includes a plurality of limit and auxiliary switches providing local and remote indication of switch position. The switches are each independently adjustable using cam adjustment collars. The overall configuration of the motor operator provides safe, reliable and cost effective phase switch operation.

  • Patent number: 5311161
Abstract: A motor operator interface assembly allows a large industrial-rated circuit breaker to be manually operated between its ON and OFF conditions as well as electrically driven by a motor operator. The interface assembly includes a motor driver plate that connects and disconnects the circuit breaker operating handle from the motor operator unit to allow either manual or motor-driven operation. A drive pawl and drive plate insure resetting the circuit breaker.

  • Patent number: 5160908
Abstract: The combination of a circuit breaker and an actuating member for the circuit breaker. The actuating device comprises an electric motor operable to displace a pair of actuating arms in opposite directions, one actuating arm being displaced along a path in which it is engageable with the manually-operable member of the circuit breaker to displace the member about its axis in one direction and the other actuating arm being displaced along a path in which it is engageable with the member to displace the member about its axis in the direction opposite to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 4912380
Abstract: A field installable motor operator for a circuit breaker includes a bidirectionally controllable motor that is coupled through a torque limited module to a circuit breaker operating mechanism. The motor is bidirectionally driven by a transistor switching bridge that supplies output current in reversible flow directions through one of the windings of the motor to the input of a rectifier bridge that supplies the other winding with currents that flow in the same direction. The torque limited module includes a centering and spacing ring which precisely confines the clutch elements to provide consistent torque. The motor is supplied with a current pulse of 250 milliseconds duration that is longer than the time required to fully operate the breaker. The clutch slips when breaker operation is completed and permits the motor to overrun without damage.

  • Patent number: 4357505
Abstract: A group operated circuit disconnect apparatus for overhead electric power lines has a base in the form of a box-like housing which mounts on a pole, an upright shaft extends through the housing, and a transverse shaft also extends through the housing. A linkage is mounted on the shafts in the housing so that axial rotation of the transverse shaft axially rotates the upright shaft, and this causes three circuit disconnect switches mounted on the housing to be moved simultaneously between closed positions and open positions, or vice versa. An electric motor driven screw and nut drive subassembly for the transverse shaft is mounted in the housing; and the ends of the housing have removable closure plates for access to the linkage and for removal of the subassembly.

  • Patent number: 4066922
Abstract: Electrical motor-control device for electrical equipment comprising a drive mechanism including an electric motor and a movement transformation mechanism including an endless screw on which is installed a linearly displaceable nut connected with slight play to an operating member of the electrical equipment. A torque limiter is inserted between the drive mechanism and the movement transformation mechanism. The torque limiter comprises a disk made of rough material integral with a worm screw and has component parts in the form of segments of a ring connected by springs clamping the said disk made of friction material. Applications: remote control of electric circuit-breakers.
