  • Patent number: 6189234
Abstract: A continuous flow fluid bed dryer has a dryer housing having a drying chamber and a plenum chamber located beneath the drying chamber. Moist product to be dried is introduced to the drying chamber at a product inlet and proceeds through the drying chamber to a discharge housing. A porous screen partially separates the drying chamber and the plenum chamber. Heated air is introduced into the plenum chamber which then passes through the screen to the drying chamber to dry product in the drying chamber. A shaft extends centrally through the drying chamber and is mounted for slow rotation therein. A plurality of paddles are connected to the shaft. The paddles move about a path of rotation whereby paddle ends sequentially sweep over the surface of the screen. In doing so, the paddles momentarily move product away from the screen permitting a rush of heated into the drying chamber locally fluidizing the bed and further drying the product.

  • Patent number: 6128828
Abstract: A drying machine includes a hot air blower, a housing divided horizontally into plural long chambers having an open upper side, a closed bottom and two longitudinal sides bored with through holes, a screw conveyor respectively positioned in each long chamber, and a motor to rotate all the screw conveyors, and a sending-out screw conveyor positioned on the bottom of the housing. Each screw conveyor has an inner screw and an outer screw twisting in opposite direction for conveying, squeezing, mixing and stirring material at the same time dried by hot air coming from the blower. Material falls down from a funnel on the upper side of the housing and gradually falling down through the through holes and an outlet in an end of the bottom of the highest long chamber and then into a second highest long chamber and so on to the lowest portion of the housing to be conveyed by the sending-out screw conveyor to an exit through which dried material falls down through for collected.

Abstract: A continuous drying system for flake-formed or granular solid, of which bottom inside surface is semi-cylindrical and arranged almost horizontally, comprises drying system main body having a supplying means of a drying object at one end thereof and having a discharging means at the other end thereof, and a coil-formed sending apparatus arranged rotatably inside the main body, and a bar-formed or blade-formed stirring member arranged between the sending apparatus transversely. The drying object is transferred by said coil-formed sending apparatus, and a part of the drying object is retreated while stirring by scooping up the drying object with the stirring member along the inside surface of the main body of the drying object. The transfer of the drying object is delayed in comparison with the rotation of the sending apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5806205
Abstract: The apparatus includes a channel having an inlet end for receiving particulate material to be dehydrated and an outlet end for discharging the particulate material in a dehydrated condition. A screw conveyor rotatably mounted in the channel advances the particulate material while stirring the particulate material to enhance the release of water and noxious vapors. A fan creates an air current in the channel to entrain water and noxious vapors released by the particulate material. The vapors are directed toward a heating chamber which incinerates dangerous and odoriferous compounds as much as possible. The resulting gaseous media is directed through a passage in a heat-exchange relationship with the channel to elevate the temperature of the particulate material that is being processed and to cause same to release water and noxious vapors.

Abstract: In the process and apparatus for kiln-drying of malt, at least two zones (A and B) are provided for preliminary drying and one zone (A1) is provided for secondary drying and/cooling of the malt. The unsaturated exhaust air from the secondary drying and/or cooling zone (A1) is admixed as return air with the intake air system, while in the preliminary drying zones (A and B) respectively different preliminary drying times are achieved by the degree of their loading with malt, the design of the floor surface and/or by adjusting the volume flow, the temperature and/or the moisture content of the intake air, so that during the secondary drying in the secondary drying zone (A1), a predrying process is always in operation in at least one predrying zone (A or B). Each individual zone (A, B and A1) is separated in operation as to air technology from the others.

  • Patent number: 4184959
Abstract: Described is a sludge recovery apparatus in which influent is admitted downwardly via a vertical motor-driven dual-speed hollow coaxial drive shaft assembly into a hollow open-bottom downwardly-converging cone-shaped centrifugal separator member spun by the outer shaft of such assembly, where liquid from the influent leaves at the top and sludge from the influent is scraped from the inner wall of the separator member for gravity discharge at the bottom by a spiral-shaped scraper spun by the inner shaft of such assembly at a slightly different speed than the separator member. Sludge thus dislodged from such member drops onto a radiantly-heated continuously-rotated drying table having a discharge scraper station and automatic drop doors for gravity ejection of the table-dried sludge into an open-top sludge salvage container.

  • Patent number: 4014643
Abstract: A rotary kiln comprises a rotary drum having a large number of lifters along its inner wall. The end portion of each lifter which is extended interiorly of the rotary drum is bent in the rotational direction of the rotary drum. To the end of each lifter are attached a number of chain like fittings which makes sliding movements along the inner wall surface of the rotary drum and along the upper and lower faces of each lifter in accordance with the rotation of the rotary drum. The chain like fittings so act as to prevent a substance to be dried from adhering to the inner wall of the rotary drum and to the lifters through making sliding movements in accordance with the drum rotation. Further, since the chain like fittings act to break the substance into small pieces and to release it upon dropping due to their own weights, it is dried effectively.
