  • Patent number: 9417009
Abstract: A control method for a drying machine according to one exemplary embodiment is applied to a drying machine which selects at least one of a heat pump system and a heater to use as a heat source for heating air to be supplied into the drum. The control method includes activating the heat pump system when both of the heat pump system and the heater are selected as the heat source, and determining whether or not a compressor included in the heat pump system normally operates. Whether or not to use the heater as the heat source is decided according to whether or not the compressor normally operates.

  • Patent number: 7721462
Abstract: A semi-drying method of a washing machine, and a ventilating structure and a control apparatus for the same. In the semi-drying method, the dehydration and disentanglement of cloth are repeated plural times, and a washing tub is rotated at a designated dehydration speed for a time longer than that of the conventional dehydrating operation so as to minimize the jamming of the cloth into water pores of the washing tub, thereby increasing the dehydration degree of the cloth compared to the conventional dehydrating operation, removing offensive odors from the cloth, preventing damage to the cloth, allowing a user to select the duration of a semi-drying operation and to see the state of the semi-drying operation, and ventilating the washing tub during the semi-drying operation to improve the dehydration degree of the cloth.

  • Publication number: 20080052947
Abstract: After rinsing, a liquid mixture (IPA+DIW) is supplied to a substrate surface while rotating a substrate at a first rotating velocity which is relatively high to thereby replace the rinsing liquid adhering to the substrate surface with the liquid mixture. In this way, the rinsing liquid adhering to the gaps between the patterns formed on the substrate surface is replaced with the liquid mixture. Subsequently, DIW is supplied to the substrate surface in a condition that the rotation of the substrate is stopped or that the substrate is rotated at a second rotating velocity which is relatively low to thereby form a puddle-like liquid layer with DIW. In this way, the liquid mixture of the surface layer part is removed from the substrate surface while leaving almost all the liquid mixture adhering to the gaps between the patterns. After that, the liquid layer is removed from the substrate surface to thereby dry the substrate surface.

Abstract: The combination washer/dryer and method for operating a combination washer/dryer. The washer/dryer has a containment drum which receives wash water, and includes a perforated clothes drum which rotates within the containment drum. A heat plenum is provided in heat transfer relationship with the containment drum, and a source of heat coupled to the heat plenum supplies heat for water in the containment drum. During a drying cycle, hot air from the heat source supplied from the fire box to the containment drum for heating wash water during a washing cycle, and for supplying hot air during a drying cycle. A drying air plenum is connected to receive drying air from the source of heat, delivering the drying air to the top of the containment drum, where it enters the rotating basket. An exhaust plenum discharges hot air laden with moisture from the containment drum through a lint filter.

  • Patent number: 6199298
Abstract: A process for drying semiconductor wafers includes loading a wafer wetted with rinsing fluid into a rotor and orientating the wafer along a substantially vertical plane. A gas saturated with a solvent vapor is passed over the wafer surfaces until condensation forms on the wafer and displaces residual fluid. The rotation of the wafer by the rotor at a first rotation speed to aids the flushing and displacement of residual fluid. The passage of a dry gas over the wafer combined with the rotation of the wafer at a second rotation speed promotes drying of solvent condensed on the wafer. The first rotation speed is limited to a rate that does not cause the condensed solvent film to evaporate as quickly as it forms. The second rotation speed may exceed that of the first rotation speed to complete the drying of the wafer. The rotor and process chamber are optionally pre-saturated with condensed solvent vapor prior to the introduction of a wafer to hasten the drying process.

  • Patent number: 5992042
Abstract: A drying apparatus and method is described wherein baskets, or totes, filled with produce to be dried, are stacked vertically within an inner support frame. The totes are arranged with the open tops facing upwardly. The inner support frame has top and bottom spindles or shafts which are rotationally supported by bearing structures at the top and bottom of the dryer body. Moisture is driven from the enclosed procuce by centrifugal force when the inner support frame/totes are rotated. Produce such as whole head vegetables are preferably arranged in rows in the totes with the cores or cut ends of a row of produce juxtapositioned with, or "butted" against, the cut ends of another row, with the leafy ends generally pointing away from the axis of rotation. In this position, water or moisture tends to flow outwardly from the leafy open ends when the inner frame is rotated during a drying operation.

  • Patent number: 5692313
Abstract: In a spin extractor according to the present invention, a basket drum for containing fabric articles is provided with a balance weight in a portion of its inner peripheral wall, giving the drum its own eccentric load. The magnitude and position of the resultant eccentric load constituted by both the drum's own eccentric load and the fabric articles unevenly distributed therein is detected based on the fluctuations in the motor current. If the magnitude of the eccentric load is out of a predetermined range or if the position of the eccentric load is not in the proximity to the position opposite at an angle of 180.degree. to the balance weight, the drum is rotated at such a speed that the centrifugal force acting on the fabric articles in the drum is smaller than the gravity force. Thus, the fabric articles are loosened, scattered and redistributed, and the magnitude and position of the eccentric load satisfy the required condition.

  • Patent number: 5581904
Abstract: A method and apparatus for drying particulate matter such as vegetables and the like is disclosed. The apparatus has a centrifugal dryer that includes a drum adapted to be rotated about its longitudinal axis which is canted with respect to the vertical. The drum is open at its upper end to receive the particulate matter, the lower end of the drum includes a lower opening to facilitate dispensing of the particulate matter after it has been dried. The drum includes a perforate wall and a radially inwardly extending annular member which preferably extends from the lower end of the perforate wall. In use, the drum is rotated at a low speed whilst the particulate matter is introduced, the drum then being accelerated through the drying cycle and decelerated again for dispensing through the lower opening. In the preferred form the dryers are used in coupled pairs which allows for effectively continuous processing, despite the batch type operation of the individual dryers.

  • Patent number: 5307567
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention includes an open-ended, non-spinning housing, which is fitted with an inner lining that rotates within the housing at speeds sufficient to de-water material loaded from within and along the length of the inner liner. A loading conveyor system has a discharge end that can be relatively positioned horizontally at various depths within the inner liner to deposit product at continuously variable layer depths on the inner liner while it is spinning. Once loaded, the inner liner is accelerated to a drying speed and the housing is swiveled to vertical on gudgeons. Once drying is complete, the inner liner is slowed down, or stopped, and the de-watered product can fall out to land on an unloading conveyor.
