  • Patent number: 11420409
Abstract: The method includes the step of pulling the corrugated board along hot plates by means of an upper flexible member and a lower flexible member driven by two electric motors. By at least one electric parameter of the drive motor of the lower flexible member, the correct operation of the traction device and in particular the correct ratio of the linear feeding speeds of the two flexible members is checked. The method provides an iterative check of the controlled electric parameter and a possible correction of the speed of the flexible members to maintain the desired speed ratio.

Abstract: A drying apparatus includes a thermal roll for contacting and heating aluminum web in a continuous sheet form. The thermal roll includes a roll surface, having a static friction coefficient ? defined by contact with the web. The static friction coefficient ? satisfies a condition of: t+V?G wherein ? G = ? ? · ? A ? ? 1 = ? ? · t · sin ? ( ? / 2 ) where t is tension applied to the web; G is roll retaining force with which the roll surface frictionally retains the web; V is thermal expansion force generated by thermal expansion of the web retained on the roll surface; ?A1 is pressing force caused by the tension to the web and applied to the roll surface by the web; ? is a wrap angle at which the web contacts the roll surface. Thus, distortion of the web can be prevented even with a great difference in the temperature from the thermal roll.

Abstract: A photosensitive material is dried by radiating heat from a guide plate, having high emissivity, which is disposed along a conveying path and is heated by a ceramic heater. Further, the photosensitive material is dried by a warm air, which is heated by a heater, blown onto the photosensitive material from nozzles. • Patent number: 6418638
Abstract: A control system and method for a dryer used to dry a line of gypsum boards. The control system automates control of the dryer by measuring the amount of water used at the mixer to produce board segments and determining a desired amount of water to be evaporated for each board segment based on the measured value. The desired amount of water to be evaporated for each board segment is tracked through the production line and the total evaporation load of each dryer zone is continuously calculated based on the board segments located in the dryer zone at a given time. The dryer zone differential temperature is adjusted according to the calculated evaporation load. When a board is rejected from the board line, the desired amounts of water to be evaporated of its corresponding board segments are set to zero, thus signifying a gap.

  • Patent number: 6119369
Abstract: A vacuum-assisted hot plate is used to precondition webs, such as paper webs used in the manufacture of corrugated paperboard. The vacuum-assisted preheater has a web supporting and heating surface separated into four sections, namely: an input section, a central upstream section, a central downstream section, and an output section. The sections are separated by three vacuum channels that are sized wide enough to prevent clogging from paper dust. The central upstream section and the central downstream section have convex surfaces. Vacuums applied to the vacuum channels provide a normal force to pull the traveling web against the heated surface, whereas the convex configuration of both the central upstream section and the central downstream section provide a normal force pushing on the paper web in the opposite direction. The result is effective positive contact of the traveling web against the heated surface, thereby promoting effective heat transfer.

  • Patent number: 6110095
Abstract: An apparatus and related method for forming a double face paperboard web are disclosed. The apparatus of the present invention includes a heating section upstream from a drawing section. The heating section includes at least one heating plate having an upper surface facing a paperboard web and heated by a plurality of primary channels supplied with steam. A plurality of secondary channels extend through the heating plate intermediate the primary channels and a lower surface of the plate. A plurality of outlet ports communicate with each secondary channel and the upper surface of the heating plate. Steam supplied to the secondary channels exits through the outlet ports thereby producing a steam film between the upper surface of the heating plate and the lower surface of the paperboard web. The steam film substantially reduces frictional forces opposing movement of the web while also dramatically increasing the heat transfer to the paperboard web and accelerating the gelatinization of the glue therein.
